Letter from the Board Chair "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5,6 [NASB] God will keep us on track. [MSG 3:6b] We simply first need to do three things: trust Him fully, lean on His wisdom, and acknowledge Him in all we do. I recently read a brief article from Outreach Magazine: Five Words that Can Make or Break a Church. It gave me pause to reflect on the past five years since Pastor Lucas joined Bayview Glen Church and the team of pastors and staff that God has brought together. In many ways we are a new and young church. Yes we celebrate God’s goodness, grace and indeed mercy for His faithfulness for 40 years at this site. Yet the majority of those who currently attend have arrived in the past five years. Furthermore, based on a recent survey, a full 15% of attendees were not attending a church before arriving at BGC. The five words from the article are entitlement, energy, excitement, engagement, and efficiency—it’s worth the quick read. Just as Solomon extols us to trust wholly on our Lord in all we feel, know and do, the author of Five Words calls us to the same and with a gusto for worship, service, and reaching our community. Our congregation continues to evolve with a broader cross section of ages and diversity; so do our responses to worship, teaching, outreach, and community building (see Pastor Lucas report next). There is an excitement about what God has in store for us this coming year and beyond as we commit ourselves to His plans for reaching the GTA. The AMMP (Annual Meeting of Ministry Partners) occurs on Sunday, September 30. We are encouraging all Ministry Partners, partners-to-be, and congregants to attend in order to celebrate God’s goodness to us, His accomplishments among us and to look ahead to where we believe He is leading us. The AMMP will be worshipful in nature plus include a couple of legal items that need to be done. At the AMMP, the question period will be a timed item and submitted questions will have priority. The full Annual Elder Report, including Nominating Page 3

Letter from the Board Chair Committee slate, has been made available to all in a timely fashion. We request that all questions on the report or otherwise be submitted to the chair directly or through the church office prior to Wednesday September 26. For some questions, a response can be given directly back to the questioner. For others, a thoughtful answer will be prepared for the AMMP. For the benefit of all and in keeping with a more reverent approach to the meeting, your cooperation is most appreciated. On behalf of the Board and church participants, I thank our wonderful staff, their spouses and families, for their time, dedication, love and leadership. We indeed are blessed. I also thank the numerous lay leaders and SERVE Team members who serve in so many capacities. On behalf of the Board of Elders, John Havercroft Elder Chair, 2017-2018

Letter from the Lead Pastor Dear Friends, Last year, I concluded my annual report with these five prayer requests: Alpha launch, wisdom for a growth strategy, increased Life Group participation, our sermon series and increased impact on our community. Looking back, it is crystal clear that God has responded to those requests. In 2017/2018, Bayview Glen Church re-launched our Alpha program and experienced amazing success. More than 80 individuals attended our Alpha programs. Many of them heard the good news about Jesus for the first time and several said “Yes” to His invitation. We have now settled on a growth strategy for our church. As we worked with representatives from our denomination and prayerfully considered all the options, we are now looking to launch a BGC campus somewhere in the GTA that has BGC DNA and is contextualized within a neighbourhood. You will hear more about that in the weeks to come! Our Life Group participation is now over 300. In my own group, I can recall several stories of how we received life from God, shared life together and brought life to the community around us. Certainly the dozens of BGC Life Groups scattered across the GTA mean that there are hundreds of stories just like mine. This year we continued our study in John, examined God’s design for family in This Is Us and talked all about Scripture in The B.I.B.L.E. And our church continues to impact the community around us by inviting our friends and neighbours to church, donating our entire Christmas Eve offering to three local life-giving organizations, working alongside the Toronto Alliance Church soup kitchen, serving our community through ESL and so much more. God has been faithful as always and we give thanks for answered prayers. Personally, I think my “highlight moment” was the conclusion of our 40th anniversary service. I was privileged to stand on platform alongside Pastors Dave Lewis Sr., Nelson Annan and Arnie Reimer to lead our congregation in Page 5

Letter from the Lead Pastor praising God “from Whom all blessings flow.” I am so grateful to be a part of a church that has had 40 extraordinary years of Kingdom impact and is looking forward to many more. As we look forward to this year, please continue to pray for Alpha, Life Groups, our planned second campus launch, our sermon series and community impact. Additionally, this fall we are planning a block party to reach our community in concert with a sermon series designed specifically to invite un-churched friends and family. We are planning to run Alpha several times this year. We are planning to expand our vision for mission both here in our community and around the world. And we are planning to increase our focus on reaching the next generation for Christ in our youth and children’s programs. And as always, we humbly submit those plans to the Lord and ask that He direct our steps. Thank you for your continued prayers for and participation in the mission that God has called us to at BGC. I am so grateful and humbled to serve you.

Blessings,

Pastor Lucas

Report from the Human Resources Committee As the HR Committee, our mandate is to provide recommendations and support to the Board of Elders in the areas of pastoral employment, staff compensation, HR policies, procedures, and health & safety. In addition, the committee supports the Lead Pastor as he leads the pastoral staff. It is in these key areas that we seek to serve Bayview Glen Church. We are thankful for the Lord's blessing on the coordinated efforts of your HR committee: Nigel Banks (Chair), John Saunders, Lucas Cooper and John Havercroft. This committee has had a quieter year but has accomplished a number of tasks. These include a review of the already very comprehensive and complete policy manual used by the pastoral leadership to guide their decisions around people matters in a manner that is both consistent and reasonable. The committee made recommendations to the Lead Pastor and Executive Pastor for amendment and inclusion. In addition, a salary scale was developed as a guide for appropriate compensation for staff. From a people point of view it has been rewarding to hear the plans and see the activities of the various pastoral leadership areas—Worship, Community, Family and Missions. We are thankful for the energy and leadership oversight provided by our Lead Pastor, Lucas Cooper. We encourage all to consider how they might serve in the work of the church, whether on a SERVE Team or in a Life Group. We would also ask for your continued prayers for wisdom as we look to and move through the 2018/2019 fiscal year.

Report from the Deacons The goal of the Deacons' team is to reach out to those of our congregation who are sick and/or hurting. We are blessed with an incredibly committed team, which consists of Bryan Dixon and Ruth Anderson (Head Deacons), Allyson Hatt, Byron Sterrett, Charles Yang, Diana Saunders, Eleanor Walter, Gord Halstead, Julianne Lindstrom, Krupa David, Letizia Paradiso, Marian Celsie, and Wendy Legiehn. These individuals are led by our elder liaisons Al Lindstrom and Gene Audia. It has been a very busy year for the Deacons. There were over 600 contacts made to members of our congregation. These contacts took the form of visits to the elderly in their homes, senior residences or hospitals. The Deacons attended the funerals of our dearly departed and provided invaluable spiritual and emotional support to the grieving. Hundreds of condolences cards were sent out to those who were going through ‘deep waters’. In all these dealings, spiritual and physical needs were met and deeper connections were forged. We praise the Lord for His healing touch and sustenance. “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds”. Hebrews 10:24 Prayers for the coming year...  That the Lord will continue to bless and oversee this work.  For more Deacons to serve in this capacity with passion and distinction.  The current team to be kept healthy, spiritually sound and motivated to serve.  May the Spirit of the Lord cover us all with His grace that we, as a group, minister to the hearts and minds of those we serve.

Report from the Finance Committee The Finance Committee helps the Board of Elders execute its church governance, stewardship, and oversight responsibilities in the context of biblical, legal, and best practice requirements. Its scope of responsibility includes financial reporting, management controls system, risk management, and audit processes. The Finance Committee provides advice and recommendations to the Board and, in certain cases, makes decisions. One key responsibility is to review, amend, and recommend approval of the annual budget by the Board of Elders, and present it to the congregation at the Annual Meeting. The Finance Committee Chair also provides financial status updates and reports to the Board at every Board meeting to ensure timely oversight and transparency of decisions made. A key success factor is that the Finance Committee works collaboratively and prayerfully with the pastoral staff and in particular the Executive Director of Ministry Operations and internal financial accountant to support the mission, vision, and values of Bayview Glen Church. I am honoured to be serving with Carolyn Matte (BGC’s Accountant) and Carmon Barry (Executive Director of Ministry Operations) on this committee. I have learned a great deal from them, making my work here as Treasurer a blessing. Carolyn and Carmon are faithful, talented, and dedicated servants of Christ. The committee thanks Thomas Woode for his service and will be seeking a replacement from the congregation and/or the Board for this coming year. The Great Commission is empowered by resources, which are not just financial but also human (volunteer), physical (our church facility and open homes), and informative (biblical preaching) in nature. It is clear for all to see that Bayview Glen Church is particularly strong in all…especially the last three! Thanks to the great stewardship of the pastoral team, expenses have been strategically contained without compromising any endeavour that supports God’s work. Many of these initiatives are described elsewhere in this Annual Report. As well, I thank you one and all, for your financial support. Bayview Glen Church was able to meet its funding forecasts, which is critical to moving forward and being able to achieve a nominal surplus, which the church did in fact achieve. Page 9

Report from the Finance Committee We are all blessed with an enviable church facility, convenient location, fantastic speakers, tireless and dedicated volunteers, strong attendance, faithful givers, and a very talented pastoral staff. Yet, I know that Bayview Glen is ready to not only meet but to exceed expectations for the next fiscal year. God has set the stage for us to pursue new initiatives. My prayer is that the entire church can embrace our vision by shifting into the next gear of deploying personal time, resources, and talents towards the Great Commission of our Lord, who is faithful.

Report from the Global Workers Support SERVE Team As a member of the C&MA, Bayview Glen Church seeks to facilitate the establishment and support of God’s Kingdom work in our communities, country and internationally. As part of that mandate, we actively manage the Missions Discretionary Fund, which is 15% of the undesignated missions giving received by BGC. Toward that end, we direct funds to the monthly support of International Workers (IWs) connected to BGC and receive regular praise updates and prayer requests from these workers. We support a number of IWs that are ministering across the globe in Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America. Due to the sensitive nature of some of their work, we are not listing their names and locations in this report. If you would like more information regarding any of our IWs and the work they do, please email [email protected]. The Global Workers Support SERVE Team is currently made up of Kevin Chan (Pastoral Oversight), Richard Powell-Brown (Chair), Marilyn Cober, and Carrie Warren. As a result of your generous giving, this past year, the Global Workers Support SERVE Team was able to consistently distribute monthly financial support to all of our committed IWs as well as provide one-time support to workers who were faced with unique ministry needs and life circumstances. The Global Workers Support SERVE Team also worked together with the pastoral team in order to ensure that BGC IWs were highlighted and prayed for during our Sunday worship services. Our commitment to provide direct communication between our IWs and church members finds primary expression in post Sunday service receptions which provides our IWs with a platform to share about their work and increased exposure to and awareness of our global impact as a church. We hosted several receptions in the past twelve months that were well received by both our IWs and attendees. We encourage our entire congregation to participate in our IW receptions. The Global Workers Support SERVE Team also responded to individuals with requests for financial support for short-term missions and were able to provide Page 11

Report from the Global Workers Support SERVE Team assistance to a numberof people who participated in Kingdom-focused, shortterm opportunities to minister overseas. We feel that God is calling us to a fresh vision and renewed passion to engage with those who don’t yet know Jesus both here in our community and across the globe. Please pray for the overall integration of that vision into the corporate life of our faith family. We are in the midst of a “reimagining” of how BGC joins God in His Kingdom work at all levels and are excited about new and fresh ways God is calling us to reach those who don’t know Jesus. Pray that every person that calls BGC their church home would play their part in reaching the nations here in Toronto and around the world.

Executive Director of Ministry Operations Report ~ Carmon Barry ~ As we move into the fall, I am reminded of God’s goodness and grace during the past season. I am grateful to be a part of the work that God is doing in and through Bayview Glen Church. As Executive Director of Ministry Operations, it is my job to provide leadership over the areas of facilities, office administration, finance, human resources, technical and production leadership for Sunday services, support for the other pastors in their ministries and pretty much anything else that’s left over. Lucas once noted that as Lead Pastor he sets vision and gets everyone on the bus. It's my job to make sure we have a bus and that it can get us there! I’m now into my fourth year at Bayview and it’s been a busy one. We’ve seen much of the vision take root, grow and bear fruit. It’s exciting to see more and more people coming out to services, ministry events and making Bayview Glen their home. Over this year we have continued to have several projects to get “the bus” ready for the road ahead. Considerable effort has been put into the Bayview Kids Sunday morning program. A new stage, sound, and video system were installed in the Bayview Kids Worship Room to make the Bayview Kids experience even better. The gym A.V. system was completely renewed to facilitate Bayview Youth Sunday Mornings and the Alpha program. We celebrated our 40th anniversary this year. A great deal of our building is original and, as you can imagine, there are many facility projects undertaken to keep things running efficiently “under the hood” and that continues as an ongoing process. I also want to thank the staff for their amazing dedication and hard work! We are so blessed to have such an outstanding staff and it’s such a pleasure for me to work alongside them. I thank God for supplying our needs so faithfully through His people and I thank you for your continued support as we move forward into this new ministry year here at Bayview.

Page 13

Worship Pastor Report ~ Andy Cherry ~ In May of this year my wife, Michelle, and I celebrated two years since we moved to Toronto and I began my work as Worship Pastor at Bayview Glen. Somehow, it simultaneously feels like it has been a longer and shorter amount of time than it has been. I’m so encouraged by the growth of our teams and their dedication to creating God-honouring and culturally relevant environments where people at all stages of their spiritual journey can engage with the Gospel of Jesus. It is truly one of the great honours of my life to be your Worship Pastor. Thank you for your trust, patience and prayers as I grow in this role. I genuinely feel like the best is ahead! We believe the 75 minutes we are able to work with on Sundays are of crucial importance. Life change can and does happen through the work of the Holy Spirit in our church every Sunday. Our goal is to remain faithful to the mission and vision that God has given to our church and continue to work hard to grow spiritually and creatively as a team. The end goal, as always, is that our congregation is led in meaningful interactions with God and people are inspired to walk in the spirit as they leave our building. Here are some items of note to report from the last year. Volunteers Volunteer musicians, singers and tech volunteers at all levels of skill have been recruited and trained to contribute to our Sunday services. Thanks to the remodelling of our SERVE Team system, we have seen our team continue to grow at an incredible rate this year. The installation of our production room has continued to provide us with opportunities to implement new video technology, create original music and deliver the message of the Gospel in compelling ways in all of our Sunday services. The goal of all of these improvements is that the word of God is communicated as clearly as possible. The number of congregants who have expressed interest in joining our Worship & Production Teams has been very encouraging. Now that we are out of the summer season, we can begin to regularly train our new team members and empower them for ministry at Bayview Glen. Our desire is to partner with all prospective team members, find them places to serve, and give them opportunities to hone their craft regardless of their current ability. Page 14

Worship Pastor Report ~ Andy Cherry ~ This year we are launching a volunteer leadership team for our Worship Department. The individuals on this team are peer nominated and will assist me in the big picture planning of our ministry, as well as provide me with feedback on a regular basis. Our communications department has launched a photography team that currently has five active members. These talented individuals serve faithfully to share with you images of what God is doing at Bayview Glen. Staff Updates After fulfilling her most recent contract in June, Jenna Cowans has come on part time staff as our Worship Coordinator. Jenna will be leading worship on occasional Sundays, developing our vocal teams and providing administrative support to the Worship Department. Additionally, we have transitioned our choir ministry from a year-long commitment to a more event-based model. Our prayer is that a decreased time commitment will make the choir an accessible SERVE Team for more of our congregation. Scotty Rade has been retained as Technical Assistant at 25 hours a week. This past year, I began to oversee our Communications Department. The mission of our Communications Department is to “help tell the story of Bayview Glen Church.” Our Communications Department is responsible for all media— graphics, video, print, social media and otherwise—that you experience on Sundays and throughout the week. We are excited about several initiatives this year that will help us better communicate the message of Jesus to our community. Keep your eyes peeled for these new initiatives! Please join me in praying that the Lord would add highly capable team members who love God and have a passion to see Him worshipped to our already outstanding worship, tech and creative teams and the choir. Thank you for your support as I enter my third year of ministry at Bayview Glen.

Page 15

Multiplication & Mobilization Pastor Report ~ Kevin Chan ~ My primary role is to bring leadership to our church’s response to and strategy toward growth (multiplication) as well as providing pathways for our congregation to engage more deeply with the work of God’s Kingdom and live out the Gospel on our campus, in our communities and across the globe (mobilization). Our SERVE Team operations are functioning well with clear communications regarding new postings, an online repository with a simplified application process, and a comprehensive on-boarding pathway for new SERVE Team members. We continue to strengthen existing relationships as well as explore new initiatives in order to provide meaningful opportunities for our congregation to SERVE beyond our Bayview Glen campus context. In March, BGC sent out five individuals as an “advance team” team to the country of Haiti to assess the potential scope of partnership with a local organization. God opened our eyes to different avenues of co-labouring and we are working to bring some of those to fruition in the coming year. An unexpected outcome of this trip was that God ignited a fresh passion within our pastoral team to strategically engage with those who don’t yet know Jesus both in our community and around the world. We plan to share more of that renewed passion in the coming months. In June, we organized and hosted BGC’s inaugural SERVE Team Appreciation Day, which was attended by over 100 SERVE Team members. The event was a success as it brought together SERVE team members from across areas of ministry to be encouraged, appreciated and to connect with one another. And we had a ton of fun! Over the last twelve months, we’ve been laying the groundwork for strategic growth by preparing to plant a new campus. Much of the work has been establishing a strong mission and vision and articulating the values that will drive this undertaking. To that end, I am currently establishing a leadership development program that will attract and equip gifted individuals as part of our Kingdom responsibility as well as providing potential candidates to staff our new campus.

Page 16

Multiplication & Mobilization Pastor Report ~ Kevin Chan ~ Part of the mobilization mandate has been to bring leadership to how our church engages with God’s Kingdom work globally. Our Global Support SERVE Team has done an excellent job operating behind the scenes to establish communication and relationship with our International Workers in the past year. We will continue to connect with our IWs in meaningful and sensible ways to establish a stronger bond with our church personally and corporately. Please see page 12 for the full report. Lastly, I continue to be hopeful about God’s desire to foment an ethos of prayer at Bayview Glen Church. We have faithfully organized monthly AllChurch Prayer times. We have also engaged intercessors to form the Sunday Service Prayer SERVE Team, which has had the privilege of praying for and with numerous individuals and witnessed God answer countless prayers over the last year. We are committed to providing prayer support to those in need.

Page 17

Community Pastor Report ~ Dave Lewis ~ In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus gives a non-negotiable mission to his followers. He first tells them, “All authority in heaven and earth” has been given to him— meaning that He is the King of creation and His followers find themselves under His rule. Second, Jesus says, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations.” This is why we define disciples as people who reflect the character and priorities of Jesus in all of life and why, when we talk about community, we talk first about fostering a disciple-making community. It’s not just about hanging out—although we do that. It’s not just about studying the Bible— although we do that too. It’s about creating environments where we make disciples who make disciples. So how are we fostering a disciple-making community at BGC? Life Groups (LG) Life Groups are smaller groups of people that seek to become families of missionary servants who make disciples as they receive life from God, share life together and bring life to their neighbourhood or network of relationships. We have taken steps this year to help our groups develop their identity as families of missionary servants. This fall, The Tangible Kingdom Primer helped our groups understand what it means to be a community on mission and to express it tangibly. We saw our groups seek to bring life to their neighbourhoods by praying for them in the context of their Life Group or on prayer walks, by opening their homes to host neighbourhood parties or by planning an event to which they could invite their friends and neighbours who don’t know Jesus. One of our groups had a neighbour who attends their group say "Yes" to Jesus! During the spring, our Life Groups focused on developing disciple-making practices to help us move from people who simply hear God’s word to those who actually put it into practice. These 4 practices are: 1. Discover what it means to live in reconciled relationships with God and others. 2. Devote ourselves to studying scripture and prayer. 3. Declare the gospel in ways that align our lives with God’s desires for us and His world. 4. Demonstrate the gospel in tangible ways that express the reality of God’s kingdom among us. These practices will form the basis of what we do as Life Groups and will be developed further in the coming year. Page 18

Community Pastor Report ~ Dave Lewis ~ We have seen growth in Life Group participation over the year as more than 300 people or 30% of our Sunday morning attendance is involved in these disciple-making environments. Two years ago, Life Group participation was below 5% of our Sunday morning attendance. Wow! However, with growth comes the challenge of building a flexible structure that not only accommodates growth but also supports those involved. To meet this challenge, we are planning to launch a new leadership role called “Life Coach.” Life Coaches will support our Life Group leaders by creating a feedback loop so that we will know the challenges our groups face and be able to help them accomplish our LG vision. Life Coaches will also help me to implement Jethro’s advice to Moses (check out Exodus 18:17-21) to disperse and share leadership as God’s community grows. The second challenge we face is training and recruiting new leaders. We have seen a couple of groups develop leaders from within and multiply this year and we hope to continue developing leaders at a faster rate in order to meet the needs of a growing church. Our hope is that everyone would be involved in a Life Group—not just because it’s good to connect with people but because we all need to be in disciple-making relationships if we are going to live out the commission that Jesus gave the church. To meet this challenge, we have developed a more intensive training track for our LG leaders and have opened it up to all who are interested in leading or being a part of a Life Group. I really believe that Life Groups are for everybody! Alpha This year we ran two Alpha sessions at the church (fall and spring). The Alpha Course helps foster a disciple-making environment by providing a space where conversations about life, faith and meaning can happen. During both courses, we had guests say "Yes" to Jesus for the first time and others decided to take the step of baptism. Alpha also helped us foster a disciple-making environment through leadership development. We developed awesome Alpha SERVE Teams this year who I have had the privilege to watch grow in the gifts and abilities that God has given them. We have seen greeters grow to become table helpers and guests at one course become the leaders for the next. Page 19

Community Pastor Report ~ Dave Lewis ~ The commitment of our Alpha SERVE team members even prompted Alpha Canada to recognized BGC as a lead church for Alpha in the GTA. This relationship with Alpha Canada has meant partnering with them in training leaders for Alpha across the Greater Toronto Area as well as being involved in planning the first ever GTA-wide Alpha Weekend Away at Muskoka Woods for fall 2018. We are so excited about what God is doing through Alpha both at BGC and across the GTA! Ministry Partnership The vision that God has given our church is not one that we can accomplish on our own. We need everyone who is part of the BGC family to enter into partnership with the church leadership in what God has called us to do. This January, we ran a Ministry Partnership course that helped individuals make a formal commitment to joining what God is doing at BGC. We had a number of people that took the course say “Yes” to joining the BGC family as Ministry Partners. While we are still working out some of the kinks in the Ministry Partnership process, we are discovering more ways to help invite, engage and connect individuals who want to join BGC in a more committed capacity. The plan going forward is to run the Ministry Partnership course a couple of times a year. New initiatives This summer, we launched TABLE 246 in the hopes of providing an entry into disciple-making relationships. Our BGC family opened their homes for those in our church who live in their neighbourhood to share a meal together. As I write this, we have over 40 tables that are open for dinner! We are looking forward to seeing the results of this initiative and what it might lead to in the future as we endeavour to create accessible opportunities for our church to connect in disciple-making community. This year we have shifted the effort and resources away from a Canada Day Celebration and toward our Back to School Block Party. The shift was strategic in that we believe that a highly accessible point of connection in the fall will help more of our friends and neighbours find a home at BGC. This event will have tons of fun things to do for people of all ages like an inflatable obstacle course, live music, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament and more. We will also have Page 20

Community Pastor Report ~ Dave Lewis ~ displays set up featuring all of the ways we have for people to connect with us. We would love to see you and your guests at the block party! This has been another great year full of change and challenge, potential and promise. May God help us to navigate the way ahead in wisdom and obedience in order to realize our vision of fostering a disciple-making community.

Family Pastor Report ~ Andy Notice ~ When I started at Bayview Glen as the Family Pastor, God gave me a clear vision of what we were to contribute to the lives of the families at Bayview Glen. It is still difficult to comprehend that I've been here for less than 2 years considering all of the ways God has proven himself faithful to that vision. One of the major achievements of this past year was being able to complete our Family Ministry team with highly capable, long-term staff members. We now have a full Family Ministry team with a Bayview Kids Director (Christine Notice on Mat Leave and Cassandra Sunderdas filling in temporarily), two Kids Coordinators (Michelle Kim and Megan Schoblocher), and a Youth Director (Brandon Bernard). I often call our team the “Dream Team.” What follows is a brief recap of some of the wins and blessings these dynamic leaders have been able to accomplish as well as a few future aspirations God has laid on our hearts as we desire to restore, renew and root families in the love of God. Bayview Kids Vision - The vision statement for Bayview Kids is “to allow kids to experience the wonder of God's love and drag their parents back to church!” On a typical Sunday morning, we currently welcome approximately 180 kids to Bayview Kids over two services. As we continue to adapt, restructure and refine our program, we look forward to increasing the influence of God’s love not only in their lives but also in the lives of their families and communities. Bayview Kids Director - This past May, my wife, Christine, and I were blessed to welcome our little girl Coco Grace into our family. As a result, Christine went on maternity leave and we had the difficult task of trying to fill her role as Bayview Kids Director. Fortunately, we were able to hire Cassandra Sunderdas, one of our Bayview Kids Coordinators. Cassandra brings passion, knowledge and experience to the role and has been doing an outstanding job leading our team and making sure our kids and families were consistently invited to experience to the wonder of God's love. Bayview Kids - Last August (2017) our kids camp was a huge success! Though we had to overcome several challenges leading up to camp, we had over 180 kids participate in our week-long camp. To see how these kids were able to engage in the message because our SERVE Team members rose to the occasion Page 22

Family Pastor Report ~ Andy Notice ~ was a huge faith builder for our team. Thank you to everyone who stepped up to make it the best camp ever! Last summer we started the process of changing our Elementary curriculum over to a program called Orange, which has greatly impacted our students in a positive way. Thanks to Michelle Kim for designing and curating the curriculum for grades 1-6. Last fall we completed the redesign and transformation of Fellowship Hall into the Kids Worship Room. Thanks to Carmon Barry, Scotty Rade, Tim Graves, and George Kaufman for all their hard work to complete the transition. In January we had a moment where eight kids said "Yes" to Christ for the first time. Thanks to Hannah Beadle for all the devotion and creativity she put into leading a month of services that lead to the "Yes" moment. Hannah has recently transitioned off of BGC staff as she desired to move into a full-time ministry role. In February, we hosted another successful Family Day event in which we welcomed over 300 guests. It was wonderful to host a fun, community-focused event for Bayview Glen and our neighbours. Bayview Youth Bayview Youth Sunday Morning - This past March, we launched our new youth worship experience on Sunday morning for students grades 6-12. The purpose of this new youth environment is “to make faithful disciples who walk in the truth and live in freedom.” This is done through high energy, engaging worship; world-class, relevant teaching; and intentional small groups. It's a great opportunity for students to develop and grow together as Christfollowers. Our new Youth Director, Brandon Bernard, has done a great job incorporating this new environment into our Youth Ministry strategy. He's pulled together an all-star team of small group, worship, and production leaders, and it's been amazing to watch over 30 kids a week be positively impacted and grow in their discipleship.

Page 23

Elder 2018 Nominees Report The role of the Nominating Committee is to identify potential elder board candidates on an annual basis. The Nominating Committee is a committee consisting of two Ministry Partner members, two elder board members and the Lead Pastor. This year the Nominating Committee was chaired by the current elder board Vice Chair (Al Lindstrom) and includes an additional elder (Marlon De Blasio), the Lead Pastor (Lucas Cooper) and two congregational representatives (Mary Hogan and Ravi David). Although Ted Halahel was elected to be on the committee last year, with Ted’s home going, Ravi David graciously volunteered to take Ted's place. Ted is missed as he served this church with compassion, spiritual insight and wit for many years as an elder. As per the Bayview Glen Church by-laws, the Nominating Committee submits a recommended slate of nominees for Ministry Partner affirmation at the Annual General Meeting. This year the slate is: A. Graham Legiehn B. Simon Ling C. Virgil Mapili D. John Saunders Biographical details for each nominee are included below. The biblical qualifications for an Elder are outlined in Titus 1:6-9 and Timothy 3:1-7 and the committee believes that these four men are well-qualified to become elders this coming term. Should there be any questions regarding these nominations or if you know of a biblical reason why any one of the forgoing should not be considered for eldership, please contact Al Lindstrom at [email protected].
