Today’s Worship Service Prelude The Heavens Declare the Glory of God by Benedetto Marcello La Réjouissance by George Frideric Handel Welcome Call To Worship

ONE: You have turned our mourning into dancing! ALL: You have taken away our funeral clothes and re-clothed us in joy. ONE: So that our whole being—body, mind, and soul— might sing praise to you and not be silent. ALL: O Lord, our Lord, we will give thanks to you forever! ONE: Christ is risen! ALL: He is risen indeed!

Hymn Jesus Christ Is Risen Today

Jesus Christ is risen today, Alleluia! Our triumphant holy day, Alleluia! Who did once upon the cross, Alleluia! Suffer to redeem our loss. Alleluia! Hymns of praise then let us sing, Alleluia! Unto Christ, our heavenly King, Alleluia! Who endured the cross and grave, Alleluia! Sinners to redeem and save. Alleluia! But the pains which he endured, Alleluia! Our salvation have procured. Alleluia! Now above the sky he’s King, Alleluia! Where the angels ever sing. Alleluia! Sing we to our God above, Alleluia! Praise eternal as God’s love. Alleluia! Praise our God, ye heavenly host, Alleluia! Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Alleluia!

Prayer Scripture

John 20:1-10

Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the tomb. 2 So she ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him.” 3 Then Peter and the other disciple set out and went toward the tomb. 4 The two were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. 5 He bent down to look in and saw the linen wrappings lying there, but he did not go in. 6 Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen wrappings lying there, 7 and the cloth that had been on Jesus’ head, not lying with the linen wrappings but rolled up in a place by itself. 8 Then the other disciple, who reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed; 9 for as yet they did not understand the scripture, that he must rise from the dead. 10 Then the disciples returned to their homes. 1

Losing Easter

Pastor Mark McIlraith

Hymn Thine is the Glory

Thine is the glory, risen, conquering Son; Endless is the victory thou o’er death hast won. Angels in bright raiment rolled the stone away, Kept the folded grave-clothes where thy body lay. Thine is the glory, risen, conquering Son; Endless is the victory thou o’er death hast won. Lo! Jesus meets us, risen from the tomb; lovingly he greets us, Scatters fear and gloom. Let the church with gladness, Hymns of triumph sing, for the Lord now liveth; death hath lost its sting. Thine is the glory, risen, conquering Son; Endless is the victory thou o’er death hast won. No more we doubt thee, glorious Prince of life! Life is naught without thee; aid us in our strife. Make us more than conquerors through thy deathless love; Bring us safe through Jordan to thy home above. Thine is the glory, risen, conquering Son; Endless is the victory thou o’er death hast won.
