We invite preschoolers to join us Wednesday, April 17 for our last Tell Me A Story. Storytellers will be on hand to share Bible stories and other stories from our Caldwell Library children’s collection. COME JOURNEY THROUGH THE STATIONS OF THE CROSS

The Stations of the Cross, a prayer practice based on the passion of Christ, are experienced by walking to each sequential station, for prayer and meditation about the event the station symbolizes. Fifteen stations, hand-carved from metal by artisans in Haiti, are displayed in the sanctuary throughout Lent. Printed prayer guides are available in the Narthex and the Jane Bell Gathering Space.

EASTER SUNDAY WEEKEND CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

On Friday, April 18 construction will stop around noon and resume on Monday, April 22. During this time temporary sidewalks will be available, and McDonald Lane will be open. Colonial Road will not be passable however, access to both entrances of the Witherspoon parking lot off Colonial Road will remain open. Thank you for your patience as we continue to make progress.

If you’re looking for an exciting church event, mark your calendar for Wednesday, May 8, 2019. The Cherub, Carol, and Joyful Noise Choirs of WMPC will present the musical, Oh, Jonah! in the sanctuary at 5:30 p.m. You will have a whale of a good time as you hear the tale of the prophet Jonah brought to life with great music and lots of humor! The choir mates hope you will be present to learn how God teaches Jonah about responsibility through a Big Bossy Whale.

SUMMER WORSHIP - ORGAN ASSISTANTS

Whether you are 7 or 107, have a musical background or don’t know how to read a note, we invite you to be an organ assistant this summer. Now in its third year, this is an opportunity to sit with Dr. H or Dr. Z at the organ console, set up registrations (sounds), chime the trinity and more. Organ assistant spots will be offered on Sundays June 2-August 25. Be on the lookout for more details in May!

EASTER CROSS

As part of the celebration of Easter, children are invited to bring a flower or greenery on April 21 to decorate a cross on the brick patio between the Luther and Knox buildings. Children in two-yearold classes are asked to put their flowers or greenery on the cross before going to the classroom. All other children, ages three through fifth grade, will decorate the cross with their classes during the Sunday School hour.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY WITH SAFECHILD

SAFEchild is a local child abuse and neglect prevention agency located at 864 West Morgan Street. They are looking for a volunteer to staff the front desk on Thursday mornings between 9 a.m. and noon. The volunteer would greet guests and answer the phone. EYEGLASSES NEEDED

WMPC is collecting your eyeglasses (prescription or readers) for the seminary in Wroclaw for use in their mission work in under-served areas of Eastern Europe. A collection box marked for Eyes and Ears Ministry is in The Connector. Questions? Contact Siobhan Miller at [email protected].

The North Carolina Presbyterian Historical Society is looking forward to being in the very Presbyterian city of Charlotte for its Spring Tour on Friday and Saturday, April 26-27. Registration is $25. We will be visiting two Presbyterian universities, a seminary, four beautiful churches, and the Settlers’ Cemetery! You could take the early train on Friday, or we will have some car transportation from Raleigh. MIDDLE EAST COMMITTEE FOR PEACE AND JUSTICE

Make plans to join us on Wednesday, May 1 at 7:00 p.m. in C200. The Middle East Committee for Peace and Justice has invited Mohammed Eid, a 29 year old Palestine refugee, who grew up in Rafah camp in the Gaza Strip, to speak. Mohammed is currently a Rotary Fellow pursuing a master’s degree in Global Studies and International Development through a joint program at the University of North Carolina and Duke University. During this talk, Mohammed will share his story of what life is like living and growing up in Gaza and the role the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) played in his life.

Join us for an 8-week Disciple Bible Study on Romans. We will meet from 6:30-7:30 p.m., April 24-June 12 in Knox 307. No registration needed.

COME JOURNEY THROUGH THE STATIONS OF THE CROSS

The Stations of the Cross, a prayer practice based on the passion of Christ, are experienced by walking to each sequential station, for prayer and meditation about the event the station symbolizes. Fifteen stations, hand-carved from metal by artisans in Haiti, are displayed in the sanctuary throughout Lent. Printed prayer guides are available in the Narthex and the Jane Bell Gathering Space.

EASTER SUNDAY WEEKEND CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

On Friday, April 18 construction will stop around noon and resume on Monday, April 22. During this time temporary sidewalks will be available, and McDonald Lane will be open. Colonial Road will not be passable however, access to both entrances of the Witherspoon parking lot off Colonial Road will remain open. Thank you for your patience as we continue to make progress.
