Who Do You Think You Are? // Where Do I look? // April 7, 2013 Text: 2 Corinthians 5:17 (p. 966) When you look in the ___________, who do you think you are? The way we answer that question __________ _______________ is likely the most important thing we can know. The fundamental problem of the world is that we don’t know who we truly are, and we attempt to find our identity in so many places other than the ___________ _____________ it can be found.

_____________ do I look to know who I am? _____________

_____________

_____________

_____________

_____________ None of the things on this list are necessarily bad things to be utterly avoided. God breathes purpose, joy and meaning into the various details and roles of our lives. But when we seek our identity in them, we find ourselves _________________ and _____________!

Healthy identity only comes from knowing deep within who we are “________ ___________.” We are new creations with new identities – not an identity we earn but one that is given to us by God. It’s not _____________________ because we have nothing to do with it. It is all Him. Only God makes it happen. However, our refusal to agree with who God says we are in Christ is not humility; it is to __________________ the glory of what Jesus did and what He in love gives to us. Truth is - we cannot ___________________ _____________ in ways that are different from what we believe about who we are. So answering the question “who do we think we are” is one of the most ________________ questions we can ever answer. Would we ask the Father to show us areas where we’re falsely finding our identity – often things He has blessed us with that have become _____________? Would we dare ask for faith to _________ and _______________ with what God says about us when we are “in Christ?”
