Job Description Job Title: Assistant Headteacher Responsible to: The Executive Headteacher, Governors and Bucks Local Authority Main Duties & Responsibilities 1

To carry out the duties of a school teacher as set out in the School Teachers Pay and Conditions Document 2017.

To be responsible for the day to day smooth-running of the nursery, the deployment and supervision of staff.

The post carries responsibility for assessment, record keeping and planning. This involves leading nursery staff meetings to set short, medium and long term planning.

To contribute to curriculum development and maintain a sound knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.

To work collaboratively with parents and other professionals to promote the educational and social development of the children within Mapledean Nursery School within the framework of the EYFS.

To work closely with the SENCO and to work with individual children with specific programmes identified to meet Special Educational Needs.

To foster and encourage good practice throughout the school, not least through personal example.

To be aware of the School Aims and support the maintenance and development of the positive school ethos.

To take part in self-evaluation and appraisal as a means of achieving professional development, undertaking training consistent with developing skills and knowledge relevant to these duties and responsibilities.

To keep abreast of current educational issues and identify their relevance to the nursery.

To lead the nursery team, relate positively to the children and assist in creating a climate where parents/carers, students and co-operating agencies feel welcome, secure and able to contribute to the life of the nursery.

To care for the safety of children by following appropriate health and safety policies and procedures, and to be vigilant in identifying potential difficulties.

To respect confidentiality of all information relating to children, their families or school life.

Postholder will be required to follow Local Authority and school Child Protection Procedures.

Regularly consult and confer with the Executive Headteacher and Deputy Head.

To be aware of the contents and contribute to Staff Handbook.

To wear appropriate dress.

To be enthusiastic in the pursuit of equal opportunities for children across the curriculum, regardless of race, gender, disability or social background.

To be enthusiastic in supporting and valuing all forms of play both inside and outside.

To carry out other reasonable duties that the Executive Headteacher may require.
