DESCRIPTION

1. Purpose of the Job 

Providing support to the Head of Technical Assurance to confirm that the CRL Programme demonstrates appropriate levels of Technical Assurance to its Sponsors, future Operators and appropriate regulatory authorities.



To manage the delivery of Interim and Final Design Overviews, including the compilation of the associated Assurance Documentation for each Crossrail Asset, in order to facilitate the acceptance of the final designs from Crossrail’s Infrastructure Managers.

2. Principal Accountabilities For specific Asset Areas: 

Checking that the assurance undertaken by Crossrail and delivery partners (including designers, contractors, the Rolling Stock supplier, Berkeley Homes and Canary Wharf Group) is undertaken in a co-ordinated manner in accordance with the Crossrail Technical Assurance Plan



Compiling the appropriate evidence available in order to demonstrate at IDO and FDO Workshops that the products and processes produced by the Project are compliant with the specified requirements

 To present the evidence to the Crossrail and IM teams through a series of IDO and FDO workshops covering all Crossrail Assets  To manage this schedule of IDO and FDO workshops and to prepare the necessary reports and presentations through close liaison with the various discipline engineers 

Checking the consistency of assurance evidence for Assets through use of appropriate tools and processes



Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected in the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working to the Crossrail Target Zero principles

3. Main Challenges of the Job The job holder’s professional responsibilities in support of the project cover technical assurance for specific Assets include: 

Confirming that the appropriate level of technical expertise is demonstrated by the designers and contractors in their Assurance Submissions



Working with London Underground and Rail For London to ensure that Crossrail’s Final Design Overview contains all the evidence required for their acceptance of the final design of each CRL asset.



Working across the Systemwide and Central Engineering Group Teams to obtain design assurance evidence from Crossrail’s design and build Contractors.



Prioritising and escalating Technical Assurance issues to the Head of Technical Assurance

Essential: Knowledge of Technical Assurance on major UK railway infrastructure



Knowledge of Systems Engineering and its implementation on a large railway infrastructure project



Chartered Engineer or equivalent relevant experience and a member of a relevant professional body



Proven skills of working in a matrix structure organisation



Understanding of the Railway Industry and in particular NR’s and LUL’s development and assurance process



Good interpersonal skills with proven ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplined management team



Experience of and successful track record in a similar role on a major rail or infrastructure project
