WEEK 2: THE REVOLUTIONARY CHRISTIAN LIFE

At-Home Discussion Questions Use this resource as an opportunity to spark discussions over dinner, around the house, or in the car this week to help your student process what we learned in Fuse on Wednesday.

FIRST: Read this scripture with your student:

JAMES 2:14-26  14 What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can his faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is without clothes and lacks daily food 16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well,” but you don’t give them what the body needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way faith, if it doesn’t have works, is dead by itself. 18 But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without works, and I will show you faith from my works. 19 You believe that God is one; you do well. The demons also believe—and they shudder. 2 0 Foolish man! Are you willing to learn that faith without works is useless?

THEN: Ask your student: 1. What sticks out to you in these verses? 2. Do you know what James means when he mentions faith in these verses? (He is talking about trusting in Jesus as your Savior and Lord, a.k.a. salvation)

3. If you are a Christian, does your life look like the one James describes (a life of selfishness and not many good works)? If so, what might need to change? 4. Why does James say that faith alone is not enough? Is he saying that we have to work for God to love us? (no, he’s saying we do good works because God loves us)
