AIM OF COURSE To enable ratings to check that a refrigeration plant is functioning correctly, diagnose faults and carry out minor maintenance.
OUTLINE SYLLABUS: On successful completion of training the rating will capable of : a. Describing/explaining/identifying the following:

Function, construction and operation of an air treatment unit
Hazards and safety precautions to be observed when working with refrigerants and refrigerant systems
Procedure for pumping down the system
Methods of leak detection
Methods of adding oil to the system
Symptoms, cause, effects, and correct actions necessary to rectify system faults

Practical fault finding on refrigeration simulators
Recovery and safe handing of refrigerant, identifying equipment and control procedures used and observing safety precautions
