ue to get better.” For his part, Gobert hopes the Wildcats use this game as a template for how they’re supposed to cover the field moving forward. For them the game was simple on Monday night, and Gobert would like for it to stay that way. “You throw strikes, work quick, make routine plays, your pitchers save about 25 pitches,” Gobert said. “ I thought our kids were locked in, and to get a shut out is always nice.”

14U JCards finish weekend 2-1 WESTFIELD — The 14U JCards baseball team finished 2-1 over the weekend at the Spring Swing Tournament at Grand Park in Westfield. The JCards played in three games, beating the Illinois Celtics 10-8 and Indiana Nitro 10-2. They lost to Peak Performance of Michigan by a score of 2-1. Members of the team are Charlie Kabrick, Ty Kalb, Ryan Luck, Maverick Merkel, Garrett Scamahorn, Kaleb Senninger, Andrew Sternberg, Lucas Timm, Xavior Wehr and Matthew Wright. Coaches are Martin Time, Eric Wright and Jason Scamahorn.

Jasper golf scramble planned JASPER — The sixth annual Jasper softball golf scramble is set for May 11 at Buffalo Trace Golf Course in Jasper. There will be a shotgun start at noon, and the cost is $50 per person for a four-person team. Proceeds raised from the golf scramble will be used to support Jasper High School softball. Heritage Hills awards announced LINCOLN CITY — The Heritage Hills boys basketball team announced its end-of-the-season award winners at their boys basketball banquet on Sunday evening. Winners were Dylan Begle (free throw percentage, most improved), Murray Becher (field goal percentage), Simon Scherry (three-point field goal percentage, steals, assists, deflections), Cade Jones (charges drawn, Patriot Award), Blake Sisley (blocked shots, rebounds) and Grant Lashley (mental attitude). Murray Becher, Simon Scherry and Blake Sisley all also received medals for being PAC all-conference selections. Jones, Begle and Grahm Turner were all IBCA Academic All-State honorable mention selections.
