Director of Marketing and Admission Birmingham City International College (BCUIC) Salary: c. £60,000 - £70,000 plus bonus Permanent - Full Time Navitas is a diversified global education provider that offers an extensive range of educational services for students and professionals including university programs, language training, workforce education and student recruitment.

BCUIC at Birmingham City University is seeking an exceptional individual to lead and drive the marketing and admissions activities of this pathway college, part of the Navitas UK network. You will drive the marketing and admissions activities of the college as part of a cross-functional team as BCUIC enters the next phase of its growth. You will develop and implement a marketing plan and manage the promotion, sales and recruitment budget and operations of this pathway college. You will be part of the marketing process responsible for international student recruitment, with a particular focus on relationship marketing, market development and student recruitment whilst collaborating closely with the wider college and the partner university’s International Office. You will take responsibility for target numbers for student intake in line with agreed College strategies and in consultation with the General Manager, Sales and Marketing, Navitas UK. You will also be responsible for the management, mentoring and training of the marketing and admissions team at BCUIC, in compliance with Tier 4 regulations and the QAA’s Code of Practice. Commercial acumen is crucial to your success in this role, as is the ability to develop business-to-business relationships. You will utilise your knowledge of the full marketing mix to develop marketing strategies, create bespoke promotional materials, manage marketing data and market research, co-ordinate events and manage agreed budgets. Working in a high energy environment with extremely motivated people, the DMA needs to be a highly motivated, team-orientated person, capable of adding value to the College’s marketing team. Some overseas travel will be required. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:  Degree level education and experience in education services marketing  Knowledge of the tertiary university market and a proven ability to set and meet sales targets in a complex services environment with significant influence from regulatory bodies  Proven ability to design, initiate and implement marketing plans, strategies and sales tactics which have made a significant contribution to sustainable business growth  Exceptional interpersonal communication and negotiation skills inclusive of strong verbal and presentation skills and the ability to write persuasive and concise management reports  Innovative thinking and proactive work habits inclusive of an eye for detail and for new recruitment initiatives  The ability to work to tight deadlines, changing priorities, on their own initiative and as a team player and to take responsibility for decisions and outcomes For more detailed information about this role, please read the attached Information Sheet. Purpose of Position The Director of Marketing and Admission (DMA) is responsible to the College Principal for the strategic direction, management and growth of the college marketing and sales activities. This includes the development of business relationships and opportunities domestically and internationally and, implementing sales and marketing strategies to achieve agreed targets. Management and leadership of the marketing team is an integral part of the responsibilities of the position, as is development and management of the college marketing budget. The DMA is responsible for the development and implementation of a recruitment process that aligns with the Home Office Tier 4 compliance regime and protects the College’s HTS/Branch Sponsorship status. The DMA will be responsible for the development and implementation of the marketing plan and the management of the promotional, sales and recruitment operations and budget at the College. The DMA is expected to be able to develop effective business relationships and opportunities, both in the UK and offshore and to implement sales and marketing strategies that will achieve agreed targets whilst aligning with the Home Office Tier 4 compliance regulations. The DMA is also expected to work effectively within and provide leadership to a cross-functional team environment inclusive of Marketing, Academic and Student Services and Admission Teams.

Lead a team responsible for student recruitment, with a particular focus on relationship marketing, market development and student recruitment Be able to balance the demands of a rigorous quality management regime with bottom line imperatives Have extensive management and leadership experience in education services marketing Demonstrate an effective working knowledge of university pathway programmes Demonstrate an effective operational understanding of the Tier 4 compliance regime Foster positive relationships with ECOs in HC’s and Embassies Possess University level qualifications, preferably at post graduate level, in a services marketing or related discipline together with extensive marketing and sales managerial experience, preferably in international education Demonstrate leadership and management skills at both strategic and operational levels, including effective management of resources Possess extensive experience in management and leadership roles in education services marketing, preferably in the university pathway or access programme area Have highly developed and polished interpersonal, communication, presentation and negotiation skills Demonstrate a proven ability to initiate, lead and implement marketing strategies and sales tactics which have made a significant contribution to sustainable business growth – preferably in an educational environment Possess extensive marketing and sales background with the ability to innovate and communicate ideas effectively Demonstrate experience in the use of, or knowledge of, technology to under marketing strategies Innovative thinking and proactive work habits Possess sound knowledge of equal opportunity, equity and workplace health and safety principles and ability to implement them at the strategic and/or operational level. Personality The DMA must be self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on high quality recruitment practices aligned with bottom line imperatives. A natural forward planner who critically assesses own performance. Mature, credible, and comfortable in dealing with senior company executives. The DMA will be reliable, tolerant, and determined; an empathic communicator, able to see things from the other person's point of view; well-presented and businesslike; sufficiently mobile and flexible to travel up to two/three weeks at a time within the UK and overseas; keen for new experience, responsibility and accountability and importantly be able to get on with others and be a team-player.

Personal Situation Must be able to spend time away from home and be able to commute reliably to office base, working extended hours on occasions when required and must have a clean (or near clean) driving licence.

Specific Job Skills Able to communicate and motivate via written media; forecast with a degree of accuracy and responsibility; understands the principles of marketing and advertising cost-effectiveness, including market sector targeting, product offer development, features-benefits-solutions selling, cost per response, cost per conversion, etc. Appreciates need for consistency within company's branding and marketing mix, especially PR and the Internet. Computer skills Must be adept in use of MS Office 2007 or later, particularly Excel and Word, and ideally Access or similar database to basic level, Internet and email. Literacy and Numeracy Able to understand profit and loss calculations and basic business finance, e.g. gross margin percentages and calculations, depreciation, capital and revenue expenditure, cash-flow, overheads, etc. and must be a very competent writer of business letters, quotations and proposals. Business and Selling Skills Must be an excellent face-to-face and telephone communicator who is able to demonstrate success and experience managing major accounts customers, large contracts or a business, particularly achieving genuine sales development. Ideal background would be in services industry. Management Ability Superior people-management skills, experience and natural ability will be critical.
