// NOTES/PRAYER REQUESTS

Believe Campaign Information Dinner As you know, Journey is having informational dinners around the Believe Campaign. We would like to encourage all of the leaders to attend one of the two remaining dinners. These dinners are your opportunity to learn more about the Believe Campaign and to get questions answered. If you haven’t done so, consider attending the last dinner as a community group in place of your normal meeting time. The last diner is this Wednesday February 20th. You can sign up by visiting the Centennial website.

/belong Check-in If there are any new members or visitors to the group, introduce them and go around and have them share how they first came to Journey and what they hope to get out of the group this semester. Catch up Take a few minutes to share how life has been - good, bad and ugly since you last met. How can the group celebrate with you, pray for you, or grieve with you? Settle down Prepare for your discussion and time with God. Open with prayer asking for God to meet with you and that he allows everyone’s hearts to be fully present and engaged. Then read the following passage as a group and reflect on Sunday’s message. February 17, 2013 -Believe: Get Ready-

Exodus 35:29 - All the men and women...whose heart moved them to bring anything for the work that the Lord had commanded by Moses to be done brought it as a freewill offering to the Lord. 1 Chronicles 29:2 - So I have provided for the house of my God, so far as I was able.

[choose one or two questions from each of the following sections]

Reflect >>> this section has questions that push scripture into our lives through application, feeling and challenging long-held thoughts and beliefs

1. Take a moment and read the widow’s offering in Luke 21:1-4. Are you more like the rich putting their gifts into the offering or the poor widow? Why?

2. Read John’s account of when Jesus feeds the 5,000 in John 6:1-12. Out of all those people only a young boy steps up and provides an offering to the cause. Andrew doubts and basically says the boy’s offering is nothing compared to the great need. But what I love, is that the boy brought what he had and let Jesus do what only He can do. We had a saying in a Beta group several years ago “just bring your fish”, meaning just bring what you have no matter how small it may seem, because in God’s hands the impossible is possible. Discuss this in light of the Believe campaign. What hangups do you have in “bringing your fish”?

Key Thoughts

Priority giving - giving God the first fruits of what He has blessed us with.

Percentage giving - giving a consistent regular percentage to the Kingdom of God.

Prompted giving - giving when our heart is stirred to contribute to a cause or vision.

3. In our society, we have a hard time with commitment. Whether the commitment is in marriage, to each other as friends, or with our new year’s diet, it seems that our culture has a hard time sticking it out. But what if we were different? What if our yes meant yes and we could get behind a vision that changes our city long after we are gone? Can you commit for three years to a vision like the Believe campaign? If not, what is the hitch that keeps you from diving in?
