Bibles For Elementary Schoolers Reviews taken mostly from Amazon, but supported by various Highrockers who have tried them as well.

I have looked through (and purchased) lots of other kids Bibles, but THIS one is IT! It doesn't gloss over the tough parts and it tells the bigger story of salvation through EVERY story! It even helps me see how the old testament stories were pictures of God's love and foretelling of Jesus coming. I love how the stories are written and I love the illustrations. It's not cookie cutter, and the perspective is fresh but true to the Word. If you're looking for a REAL kids Bible that will intrigue both kids and adults this is the one. Plus the CDs are great for in the car. Love, Love, Love!! $19.79 The Story for Children is a unique collection of 48 Bible stories written by beloved pastor and writer Max Lucado and tells the big picture of God’s enormous love for his children. The vibrant illustrations that accompany the stories are by accomplished artist Fausto Bianchi and help bring the Bible to life for readers of any age. It is recommended for children ages 4 to 7 and is the second of five Bibles that tell the narrative of Scripture in chronological order for preschoolers all the way up to adults. $13.59 This version of the Bible is written for kids ranging in age from 7 to 10 as stated on the back cover. This is a terrific idea of taking Biblical text and arranging them in a sequential order so kids (and adults) can understand that the word of God is one big story. Though there are many parts left out and it does not have verses to be able to look up passages easily, it reads like a book and the kids who have tried it have literally said they can’t put it down! "The Story" also comes in a teen and adult version as well. $7.99 The purpose of this Bible is to make the Scriptures easy for children to understand taking the traditional New International Version of the Bible and making it accessible to young readers (thus the small “r”). In this regard, the NIrV Kids' Study Bible handily accomplishes this goal. The sentences are short, and difficult vocabulary has been translated into simpler words. Review questions also appear in many sections, which aid in retention of the passage. The background information for each book is also well done and helpful. Kids of all ages appreciate the pictures too. This is great first Bible to transition to after the story Bibles. This Bible is recommended for elementary aged children who have at least a basic level of reading ability. $18.47 This is a great book to get children, I'll say 2nd to 5th grade, to read and understand important stories in the bible. It is a day-by-day reader that should take around 7 to 10 minutes depending on reading skills. There are some illustrations to break up the copy. Stories that might appear in different chapters are combined and told in one chapter with references to other chapters. Violence and sexual stories are removed/kept to a minimum. There are amazing indices in the back for referencing stories that are especially helpful for Sunday School teachers or parents.
