Big Friend Little Friend, Inc Job Description: Executive Director Yankton’s Big Friend-Little Friend, Inc., is a youth organization that positively impacts area youth through fostering on-to-one friendships with caring adult mentors who help facilitate positive character. The Executive Director 1) Administers and facilitates all activities related to mentors, child participants, parents/guardians, 2) Serves as prime program liaison to United Way and Volunteer Services and to the community, and 3) Works closely with Board of Directors to maintain program quality and expand opportunities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Manage each child’s participation in program through screening, training, matching, support and supervision, recognition, and closure activities. Quarterly follow up on all matches. • Manage all aspects of volunteer adult mentor participation including recruiting, screening, matching, monitoring, and closing the relationship between the mentor and participant. • Build and maintain strong relationship with program Board of Directors. • Apply expert knowledge of mentoring program policies and procedures and recommend updates to Board of Directors, as necessary. • Maintain and grow web site.  Must be proficient in MS Outlook, Word, and online data software. Wordpress and Adobe experience preferred but not required. • Oversee program evaluation activities • Attend all United Way meetings, including but not limited to Spark, participate as member of Yankton County Child Protection Team, and develop and manage relationships with schools, training centers, and community-based organizations. • In cooperation with Board of Directors Marketing Committee, create and implement mentor recruitment plan, including promotion materials, advertising, public relations, outreach to businesses and organizations, and ongoing presence at key community events. • In cooperation with Board of Directors, develop and implement fund raising plans. • Write and submit grants for organization and administer successful grants. • Organize and implement monthly Fun Functions, the mentor/participant group events. • Oversee several special events. • Plan and implement recognition activities for program participants. • Attend seminars to increase knowledge of mentoring program and best practices. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree preferred with emphasis in social work, psychology, and/or Education. • Two or more years experience in mentoring and youth development. Experience within community organizations and/or schools preferred. • Excellent organizational, writing, verbal, and interpersonal skills. • Able to easily use Word, Powerpoint, excel • Creativity and flexibility are essential in assuming significant responsibility How to apply Please mail resume to 610 W 23rd St, Suite 11 Yankton, SD 57078 or e-mail to [email protected] Pay based on qualifications.
