Warmwater Fisheries Surveys of Box Canyon Reservoir Pend Oreille County, Washington 2004 - 2009 - 2011
The 2011 pike population level is not sustainable
Since 2004, we have seen: • Significant increase in northern pike abundance • Significant decrease in abundance of many other species Largemouth Bass
If left alone, the increasing pike population will impede efforts to: • Maintain a viable recreational fishery Pike will become overabundant, stunted, and unattractive to anglers
Black Crappie Yellow Perch Pumpkinseed Peamouth Northern Pikeminnow
Overabundant pike population will inhibit the production of other preferred native and non-native fish populations within the reservoir
• Achieve the short-term, mid-term, and long-term conservation goals for Box Canyon Reservoir Number of River Sections Sampled by Gear Type 2004-2011
