Boy Scouts Mining Merit Badge Mine Tour Permission On Saturday, November 15, scouts will be visiting Freeport-McMoRan Miami Operations to tour the mine site and learn about copper, from mine to market: how it is found, removed from the earth, and how it is processed for later use. This field trip offers a rare and unique opportunity to tour an active copper mining operation. Students will be transported via school buses, departing from Bullion Plaza Cultural Center & Museum at _____ am and returning before ____ pm. Scouts, leaders and other chaperones will be treated to lunch, following the morning tour. Participating scouts MUST wear closed-toe shoes, long-sleeved shirts and long pants. Scouts who are not dressed accordingly will not be allowed to participate in the tour. Hard hats, safety glasses and other personal protective equipment will be provided by Freeport-McMoRan.
