British Canoeing Role Description 1.

Role title: Chair, English Coaching Management Committee (ECMC)

Responsible to: English Council (EC)

Purpose of role:    

Ensure the effective management of ECMC and the facilitation of discussion and recommendations to the English Coaching Department and British Canoeing Coaching Administration Group (CAG). Ensure the effective management of the English Coaching Network voluntary officers. Ensure the committee takes proper account of guidance given by staff and appropriate outside bodies. Ensure that coaching in England is actively working towards achieving British Canoeing’s strategic objectives and the English Coaching Department’s key performance indicators. Represent coaching to the British Canoeing membership and to the general public.

Support the continuing development of an integrated Coaching Service in England. Support the continuing development of effective support to coaches at all levels. Support the English Coaching Department in actively working towards achieving its key performance indicators. Support the English Coaching Department in ensuring that the coaching rules are applied in a fair and equitable manner. Provide help, support and advice as and when necessary to the English Coaching Department staff. Keep EC informed of any coaching matter which might require its support or intervention. Represent English Coaching at events and meetings as and when necessary. To chair forums and meetings as and when necessary. Undertake specific tasks or projects as and when necessary. Be conversant with the British Canoeing Articles of Association and with the procedure for the conduct of meetings.

Experience Graduate or equivalent level experience gained in a commercial setting plus of:   

Chairing similar level committees Supporting volunteers Working with partner agencies.

Commitment Prepared to commit to a minimum of three ECMC meetings per year and additional meetings as required including English Council, Coaching Strategy Group, ad hoc etc. Possible 10 additional meetings per year. British Canoeing Full Individual Membership.
