Saturday August 20th Tentative 10am -3pm (or when clean-up is complete) Showing Thanks the Bryan Hill Way St. John Church will again tackle the challenge of becoming a full service banquet staff at the third annual "Showing Thanks at Thanksgiving the Bryan Hill Way" celebration banquet. Saturday, November 19th Tentative 10am - 3:30pm Bryan Hill Toy Shop Help Bryan Hill Elementary staff support their families by serving at the Bryan Hill Toy Shop (parents will shop for their children). Saturday, December 10th Tentative 10am until 2pm Eagle Christmas Store Volunteers will assist students with shopping for Christmas gifts for their parents DURING SCHOOL HOURS Monday and Tuesday, December 12th and 13th Tentative 8:30am until 2:30pm

BRYAN HILL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL: ONGOING Bryan Hill Planning Committees Work side by side Bryan Hill and St. John staff to vision, organize and execute collaborative community events (Back to School Bash, Thanksgiving, Christmas) Meetings begin 1-3 months prior to the event date. 1-2 Tuesdays per month 3:30pm – 5:30pm @ Bryan Hill Elementary School Oasis Tutoring Oasis Tutors (program is for volunteers 50+ but there may be opportunities for volunteers 18+) meet weekly during the school day with the same student over the course of a year. Relationships are formed and lives are CHANGED. Training is provided by St. Louis Public Schools. Provident After School Serve Bryan Hill Elementary School through Provident After School Care. Volunteers will help with homework and activities for K-5 students daily from 3:30pm until 5pm.

ST. PAUL’S LUTHERAN CHURCH ISPY at St. Paul’s once a month commitment for 6 MONTHS minimum to serve at St. Paul's Lutheran Church's children ministry called ISPY (Instruction for St. Paul’s Youth). Volunteers will supervise during free time, teach small group and share a meal at the end of the night. Families are welcome... adults and teens 16 and up will teach, children can participate in the lesson with St. Paul kids. Every Tuesday 5pm - 7pm Must submit a background check and have an interview with the Missions Director prior to serving VBS at St. Paul’s 2016 St. Paul Lutheran Church VBS St. Paul Lutheran Church is looking for volunteers to help at their second VBS for kids living in the College Hill neighborhood. July 18th –July 21st & July 26th

OTHER ONE TIME SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES Sunshine Ministries Easter Party Help Sunshine Ministries serve families they work with in North St. Louis. We will be helping their clients shop for Easter dinner ingredients and serve refreshments while children visit the Easter bunny. March 19th 2016 9am – 11:30am School Supply Shop This is a great opportunity for families with children to serve together here on St. John’s campus. Duties include cashier, shopper and backpack assemblers. July 30th & 31st Various Times Serve St. Louis Serve St. Louis is a movement of churches and over 3,000 Christ-followers throughout the region united in a single weekend of practical acts of service, making the metro area a better place to live, and bringing honor to the name of Jesus. St. John projects will be scheduled on Saturday, October 8th 8:30am devotion and kickoff

We focus on fostering relationships, providing equitable assessment of needs and assets, and identifying well-founded solutions to restore individuals to live fruitful lives. Sign up to receive Christ in Action Email Alerts Email alerts are used to share opportunities to crowd source financial assistance, recruit volunteers with specific talents and provide case follow up. Become an advocate Commit to walking with people living in material poverty. Duties include intake assessment, creating action plans, follow up phone calls, reporting on cases to the leadership team and lots of prayer! Christ in Action Leadership Team The leadership team meets on the first and third Mondays of the month at 5:45pm to review cases and discuss solutions with advocates. They also evaluate program outcomes and improve procedures as needed. Christ in Action Advocate Coordinator Duties include serving on the CIA leadership team, and 1-3 hours weekly to review intake assessment paperwork, input data into Charity Tracker, make follow up phone calls to individuals seeking assistance, utility companies and other faith communities and agencies, review funding and present grant requests to Missions Director and perform other duties as needed. Social work or nonprofit background preferred but not required; we ask for volunteers to make a 6 to 12-month commitment.

Past teams have hosted VBS, lead English camps, taught leadership and business skills to Bible college students and local non-profit leaders, completed repair work at the facility and worked on other projects in the community.
