AS WE GATHER Right here. Right now. Jesus is present. Take a moment and let that sink in. Jesus—the very Son of God and King of the universe—is present! As He was at the wedding feast in Cana of Galilee, where He gave the first sign of His glory, He also is present with us today through the Word proclaimed and the “sign” received in His body and blood. The Table will be prepared. The bread and the wine will be plentiful. And you will be invited to come: “Take, eat. Take, drink.” Christ’s true presence is here for you, and you are richly blessed! Savor this hour as we gather and receive Jesus into our midst. What a holy hour this is! Right here. Right now. You are blessed by Jesus’ presence. On the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. 2 Jesus also was invited to the wedding with his disciples. 3 When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.” 4 And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come.” 5 His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” 6 Now there were six stone water jars there for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons. 7 Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. 8 And he said to them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the feast.” So they took it. 9 When the master of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom 10 and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk 7

freely, then the poor wine. But you have kept the good wine until now.” 11 This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory. And his disciples believed in him. About Holy Communion—The Lord’s Supper is celebrated here in the belief and glad confidence that our Lord gives us as He says, not only bread and wine, but His very body and blood to eat and to drink for the forgiveness of sins and to strengthen our union with Him and with one another. Our Lord invites to His table those who trust His words, repent of all sin, and forgive and love as He forgives and loves us. If this is your belief, we welcome you to join us at the Lord’s table. Because we are called to examine ourselves before receiving the Lord’s Supper (I Corinthians 11:28-29), we encourage you to consider the questions on p. 329-330 in the front of the hymnal. If you are communing with us for the first time, or if you would like a fuller understanding of what we as Lutherans believe about the Lord’s Supper, please pick up a copy of “What is the Lord’s Supper?” at the Information table in the entryway. Please reserve the white grape juice cups in the center of the communion trays for those who for health reasons are unable to drink wine. If your health requires gluten-free wafers, they are available upon request. Speak to the pastor prior to the service. Our pastors are happy to speak to you further if you have any questions.

The nursery is in the preschool on the north end of the building. It is the first classroom on the left as you enter the preschool parent lounge area. Community Handbell Concert: Come and join us for the inaugural concert of St. Cloud's new community handbell ensemble, the River City Bronze (codirected by Ruth Immerfall). Operation “All On Board” is the opportunity we want to present to as many members of our Prince of Peace Lutheran School Association to “come on board” with their support for our school as we approach our annual Legacy Benefit Dinner and Auction April 7. Our theme this year is “The Promises of God” especially when it comes to raising children in the Christian faith based on Proverbs 22:6 – “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” How will it happen? We will be placing large glass jugs in our Association congregations during the months of January and February. Members of our Association congregations will be invited to place their change (cash donations also welcome) in these jugs in the weeks leading up to our Benefit. Our goal is to give as many people as possible and especially those who are unable to attend the Dinner and Auction the opportunity to financially support our ministry of providing a Christ-centered education to children, helping to “train them up in the way” of Christ. How will these gifts be used? 100% of every gift will be used to help pay for all of the costs that come with the operation of our school. In a real way then, every gift becomes an investment in the children attending Prince of Peace Lutheran School where each child is receiving an education for life centered on Christ. And please pray! Pray for our school – our students and teachers and staff. Ask our gracious Lord to bless our efforts to provide a Christian education to every family who desires it for their children.
