About the role The Business Analyst position supports the Senior Leadership Team and Senior Managers in achieving strategic objectives through the assessment of operational effectiveness, based on the collection, analysis, interpretation and distribution of key data and management information. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their ability to identify trends and to communicate trends succinctly in a format meaningful to operational and senior managers. Duties and responsibilities • Collect, compile, analyse, summarise, interpret and communicate key data/information from various sources; • Draft and prepare standard and/or ad hoc data analysis reports, including commentary; • In conjunction with the Business Manager and Finance team, provide financial monitoring and review of operations, including performing variance and trend analysis on financial information; • Assistance with the preparation of financial quarterly rolling plans and Annual Budgets including KPI targets; • Develop financial models to assess the viability of initiatives, including proposals and tenders; • Develop quality dashboards and business driver reports, as required. Essential Criteria • • • • • • •

Degree in Commerce/Finance/Accounting with appropriate professional recognition (i.e. CPA, CA, or equivalent); At least 2-3 years’ experience in a position requiring similar essential skills and experience; Demonstrated ability to develop analytical tools and financial models that identify trends that are occurring in the business and in its markets; Demonstrated ability to interpret data and communicate its meaning effectively to management; High proficiency in using Microsoft suite of desktop business applications especially using Microsoft Excel for data and analytics purposes; Ability to work independently and utilise a high level of initiative; High numerical reasoning capability and analytical skills, able to work through highly complex data sets.

Desirable Criteria • Relevant industry experience, preferably with the tertiary education sector; • Previous experience with reporting development, particularly balanced scorecard reporting. 1. Overview and Objectives of the Position The Business Analyst, in collaboration with the Business Manager, supports the operations of the Government Services and Careers and Internships Business Units (BUs). The position supports BU managers in achieving strategic objectives through timely collection, analysis and distribution of key data. The position is the key facilitator for analytical operational reporting, providing analysis of data and information to inform and support the BU management teams in setting business strategy and financial planning.

3. Key Result Areas (Areas of Accountability and Responsibility) Data analysis and reporting The Business Analyst provides insight into the performance of Government Services and Careers and Internships Business Units operations by: •

Collecting, compiling, analysing and summarising data from various sources and performing variance and trend analyses;



Working with the BU Management teams to analyse and interpret key data;



Drafting and preparing standard and/or ad hoc data analysis reports, including commentary;



Developing quality dashboards and analytical tools, as required;



Providing support, advice and guidance to Managers to ensure the reporting systems and processes provide accurate, timely and reliable information for financial reporting and analysis.

Financial modelling, budgeting, monitoring and review Provides timely and accurate financial and business reports by: •

Liaising with the Finance team and BM in developing business models to assess the viability of Business Unit initiatives, including proposals, tenders and other projects;



Performing variance and trend analysis on Business Unit financial information and working with the BM, GM, Director Education Programs and Director Careers and Internships, in drafting narrative reports and dashboards for submission to the GM, Directors and for Navitas Group reporting purposes;



Liaising with the BM and management teams to determine annual targets, yearly pricing revisions, and agent commission structures.



Working with the GM, BM and Business Unit Managers in the preparation of Annual Budgets and Rolling Plans (including KPI targets) in accordance with the corporate planning timetable;



Liaising with the GM, BM, Director Education Programs, Director Careers and Internships and Finance team in developing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Dashboard reports.

Resource management Contributes to the most effective and efficient management of resources by: •

Effectively managing delegated analysis and reporting functions;



Informing on analysis and reporting issues with relevant managers and administration staff;



Maintaining appropriate manual and computerised records and systems;



Actively participating in effective communication practices;



Planning, monitoring and reporting CapEx expenditure.

Compliance Contributes to the maintenance of a safe working environment, within their area of operations, by: •

Overseeing the provision and maintenance of workplace practices that are safe and without risk to health;



Ensuring relevant occupational health and safety regulations are complied with.

Contributes to the maintenance of client privacy by: •

Ensuring privacy regulations are understood and implemented;



Ensuring client records and personal information are stored securely according to the Division’s privacy policy;



Cooperating with other Navitas staff and external agencies in a way that ensures Navitas complies with privacy regulations.

4. Selection Criteria (Qualifications, Skills and Experience) Essential •
