About the role The Group Business Development Analyst is an important member of the Office of Commercial Services, reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) and working closely with the Group Senior Business Development Manager, and is responsible for providing Business Development activities in support of the core Navitas business. Essential Skills and Experience  Degree qualified – preferably in an economics/finance/marketing/business related discipline.  High proficiency in using Microsoft suite of desktop business applications including Excel for data and analytics purposes.  Excellent numeracy skills.  Ability to navigate through complexity to gather disparate data and structure it in a logical manner; organise data; structure information; make ‘order out of chaos’.  Highly developed organisational skills and attention to detail.  Excellent consultation and communication skills (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with stakeholders at all levels and from a range of backgrounds.  Excellent time management skills, including the capacity to arrange workload to meet conflicting priorities and deadlines.  An orientation towards ‘rolling up their sleeves’ and getting involved with issues when required – “a team player”.  Demonstrated positive values of integrity, reliability, teamwork and professionalism.  Protects organisation's values by keeping information confidential. Desirable Skills and Experience    

3-5 years’ experience in a business environment. Knowledge of the higher education sector including international education operations. Track record of working in a project environment. Experience with supporting change in a large, complex organisation.

Business Development Analyst 1.0

Position summary

The Group Business Development Analyst is an important member of the Office of Commercial Services, reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) and working closely with the Group Senior Business Development Manager, and is responsible for providing Business Development activities in support of the core Navitas business. The Group Business Development Analyst will be part of a small, effective team which provides strategic and operational Business Development and Commercial support consistent with, and aligned to the strategic goals of Navitas. As an enabling service of the Navitas Group, the Office of Commercial Services will collaborate and integrate with Divisions and other Navitas Group services as required. This support role will assist the CCO and Group Senior BDM in developing and implementing BD projects for the core business and providing research and business analysis that supports sound commercial practice and the business development objectives across the Group. Business development within Navitas requires alignment with the strategic goals of the organisation and each Division, as well as the various business units. It is essential the Group Business Development Coordinator /Analyst has an understanding of stays abreast of issues and trends across the education sectors in all geographies where Navitas’ core business operates or may operate. The Group Business Development Analyst role is required to undertake research, business analysis and project coordination across a range of projects that make up the business development portfolio.

Business Development is one of a number of Navitas Group functions that enables growth across the Group. As a consequence, allocation of specific responsibilities relating to business development activity will vary from project to project. These will be determined for each project during the planning phase, working closely with the PMO as part of establishing the specific governance arrangements. The Office of Commercial Services will work collaboratively with Divisions and other enabling functions – Legal, Finance & Tax, PR & Brand, Marketing, Strategy & the PMO.

Structure

The structure for the Office of Commercial Services is a small office of 3 staff enabled by direct support from within the group’s corporate finance function as well as contracted assistance when required. It seeks to carry out its responsibilities by collaborating with other enabling functions.

4.0

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The Group Business Development Analyst’s duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Project support and Coordination Providing project support and coordination services to the CCO and Senior BDM by: i.

Initial research, consulting and scoping of business development initiatives and projects

ii.

Preparing project briefs that identify key milestones and resources required to support project implementation

iii.

Maintain a Project Register integrating with the BMO, including distributing the Projects Register for the BD Group meetings.

iv.

Providing support and advice on projects as required, and

v.

Being a member of collaborative, cross-functional project teams

Research and business analysis vi.

Providing business analysis support to the CCO and Senior BDM

vii.

Delivering research and analysis to the Office of Commercial Services to make informed decisions on strategic initiatives including prospective research on business development opportunities

viii.

Undertaking competitor, industry, geographical and other research

ix.

Producing analysis and basic costings for business opportunities

x.

Drafting submissions for business development opportunities

xi.

Ensuring the highest standard of business reports are available to OCS by drafting and finalising reports for ad-hoc, monthly, quarterly and annual reports

xii.

Assisting with the development and completion of annual business and operational plans and reports

BD Strategy Development Support & Implementation xiii.

Develop an understanding of the key value drivers across the Navitas Group through rigorous analysis and dynamic modelling of student numbers, pricing, costs and competitive position.

xiv.

Working with the CCO and Senior BDM in collaboration with Divisions and enabling functions on BD and other strategic projects as required.

xv.

Support the preparation of Feasibility Reports, Business Cases and other BD reports as required.

BD Policy Development xvi.

Support the development and application of appropriate Business Development policies and guidelines to ensure effective project across the Navitas Group.

xvii.

Maintaining project databases including project governance structures and established procedures for BD projects.

Integrate & Operate BD Project as Business As Usual xviii.

Assist BD projects being positioned for system and management integration into the Navitas Group

xix.

Support post transaction reviews where appropriate and document findings.

xx.

Working with the CCO, analyse performance of BD projects against approved Business Case/Plans.

Person Specification

Essential: 

Degree qualified – preferably in an economics/finance/marketing/business related discipline.
