Business Development Executive (Greater China) – Charles Darwin University Guangzhou, China Full-time, for an initial period of 3 years

The Business Development Executive (Greater China) will be employed by Navitas in China working exclusively with our partner, Charles Darwin University (CDU), Australia. The role will be based in the Navitas office in Guangzhou and will work closely with and to the direction of the Director International at CDU as part the CDU international team. Charles Darwin University (CDU) is one of a kind. Based in Australia, CDU is set in a country that is home to the world’s oldest living culture; it is geographically closer to seven major Asian cities than to any Australian capital and is the Northern Territory’s only university. CDU is a dual sector university with 11 campuses and centres stretching across the Territory and into Sydney and Melbourne. They are vital to satisfying the Territory’s needs for education and training, and helping to build its economic, social and cultural capital, as well as supporting a wide range of national and international students. The impact of CDU’s research is felt nationally and increasingly among their neighbours in Asia, and is reflected in CDU’s high placement international rankings. Navitas is a diversified global education provider that offers an extensive range of educational services for students and professionals including university programs, English language training and settlement services, creative media education, workforce education and student recruitment. Navitas, or PIBT as it was then, was founded in 1994 with the goal of helping more international students succeed at university in Australia via improved student support and an extended academic year. Since this time Navitas has significantly expanded the services it offers its students and clients and is now creating opportunities through lifelong learning for over 83,000 people in 31 countries per year. About the role The Business Development Executive (Greater China) will be responsible for managing and implementing a range of marketing strategies and activities to support the student recruitment, business development and internationalisation objectives of the University. This will include representing Charles Darwin University in a range of business activities, including meetings, exhibitions, recruitment fairs and seminars in the Greater China region. The ability to meet required targets, monitor and report on the effectiveness of marketing and recruitment activities and provide recommendations for new opportunities and products is essential. As part of Charles Darwin University’s International Marketing and Recruitment team, you will take part in regular meetings, training and development activities. Key accountabilities The following accountabilities are not exhaustive and may include others as directed from time-totime. Business Development and Relationship Management 

Identify and progress new business development opportunities in the Greater China region across CDU’s VET, Higher Education and Research portfolios



Develop country specific marketing plans including: in depth reports on market trends, student recruitment initiatives, partner and alumni engagement activities, agent performance management initiatives, and annual recruitment calendars,



Build positive working relationships with stakeholders in the region including partner institutions, recruitment agents, third-party providers, government agencies, industry groups, scholarship and development agencies and alumni

Recrutiment and Marketing



Prepare annual regional marketing and recruitment plans for the Greater China region



Implement agreed recruitment activities, monitoring and reporting on effectiveness and providing recommendations to ensure recruitment targets are met.



Prepare regular market intelligence and recruitment reports for senior management

Knowledge and proficiency 

Maintain a comprehensive understanding of market trends for the region to provide recommendations to support the University’s internationalisation goals.



Take part in regular training and development activities including team meetings.



Maintain responsibility for own personal development including development of market and product knowledge.

Human resources and budget management 

Provide supervision of in-country recruitment staff including setting performance targets, goals, training, development and performance reporting.



Maintain a high level of organisation and self-management to ensure deadlines are met, providing proactive reporting to Navitas and the University (Director International), on activities in the region.



Contribute to the budgeting process, monitor recruitment activities to ensure targets are delivered on time and within budget.

Essential Skills and Experience 

Eligibility to live, work and travel freely in China as well as fluency in both written and spoken Mandarin and English.



Relevant tertiary qualification and/or equivalent professional experience with demonstrated knowledge in the Greater China Market.



Minimum 5 years in business development, student recruitment or educational sales and an excellent understanding of the international education sector and marketing processes.



Strong relationship management and negotiation skills paired with a positive attitude.



Proactive, with a demonstrated ability to work independently, highly organised and able to set and manage goals to achieve targets and support strategic objectives.
