The Navitas Careers & Learning Skills business unit within the Professional and English Programs Division delivers a range of high-quality, innovative work-readiness and English language programs to individuals seeking to develop their skills and career opportunities. Navitas has a wealth of expertise in creating fully customised courses to provide exceptional learning experiences, ranging from memorable study tours and comprehensive corporate training programs to the establishment of learning and testing centres. The Navitas English Test Centre offers a suite of internationally recognised proficiency tests, including IELTS, to over 29,000 candidates each year. The Navitas Professional, Careers and Internship (C&I) operation is largely student facing focused on provision of work readiness programs for international students and graduates. The Navitas C&I operations deliver internship and workplace preparatory programs across five Australian states to international student graduates to develop them professionally and personally to enhance their career prospects. The unit provides career ready preparation for students seeking to enter the workforce at early stages of their professional career. C&I offers a portfolio of programs which develop foundation skills and career learning skills to enable students to progress their employment goals in their chosen career. C&I operates as a collegiate, matrix operational model leveraging the skills and expertise of the C&I and partner Navitas business units to deliver targeted and nuanced work ready and work development solutions for individuals, host companies and professional associations across Australia. The C&I team works closely with other Navitas units, to combine areas of expertise to enable a broad range of students and clients to participate and succeed in the workplace of today and the future. Areas of Responsibility: The Business Development & Industry Engagement Manager (C&I) is responsible for identifying and developing business opportunities, to deliver growth and expansion of C&I teaching and learning programs, and managing and further developing C&I industry partnerships. This role works closely with the Director C&I and C&I management team as well as marketing personnel within Navitas to identify and assess new business opportunities and develop proposals to expand C&I operations within

and external to Navitas both nationally and potentially offshore. In parallel to this, the Business Development & Industry Engagement Manager, is responsible for ensuring the effective management of relationships with industry partners and is expected to expand the C&I industry network to meet C&I future needs. The purpose of the role is to ensure C&I broadens its scope of programs and partnerships and delivers programs that are competitive and responsive to industry need. This will require the development of strong relationships with existing and new industry partners. The Business Development & Industry Engagement Manager has a key role in optimising the financial growth and EBITDA of the C&I operation through ensuring an expanded range of cost effective programs and partnerships are established. This role will be required to travel both within Australia and potentially internationally. Selection Criteria Essential:  Relevant tertiary qualifications 

Sound business and financial acumen, balanced by a talent for creative thinking and problem solving



Demonstrated hands-on management style, adaptable to a changing environment



Demonstrated strategic and analytical skills and ability to be resourceful



Demonstrated negotiation skills and a willingness to work and collaborate with others while maintaining a strategic focus



Results-oriented and self-motivated



Good interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to negotiate and ability to build and maintain effective business relationships and networks both internally and externally



Understanding of both the Higher Education and VET sectors



Excellent written and verbal communication skills



Excellent relationship management skills

Desirable: 

Knowledge and experience of marketing, including promotion, advertising, digital marketing, branding, building media presence and public relations would be very well regarded.

3. Key Result Areas (Areas of Accountability and Responsibility) 1. New business development 

Review and evaluate the domestic and international student markets to identify opportunities for C&I in a changing higher education sector including the identification of new products and services



Review and assess opportunities for new partnerships with business units within the Navitas network



Research and build relationships with potential new clients



Analyse market and sales potential of new product opportunities



Assist in pricing new products and services



Develop and document approaches and “pitches” to potential new clients and to accompany proposals



Provide advice on key aspects of differentiation and approaches to relevant market segments for new products and services



Work with the C&I National Marketing and Strategy Manager and CLS Marketing Director to develop and define key market segments to target in order to drive new business development initiatives

2. Existing business development 

Review and identify existing client needs (students, industry, educational partners) with a view to developing products and services that meet these needs



Work with the C&I National Marketing and Strategy Manager and CLS Marketing Director to identify where new products and services may enhance existing business segments



Identify and develop opportunities with Navitas business units and partners

3. Industry Engagement and development 

Manage work placement systems for C&I



Manage placement functions to ensure timely placement of all interns



Develop and manage processes for industry engagement which enhance partner engagement and expand the number and quality of host companies



Develop strategies for effective management of industry relationships



Ensure 100% of placements to a suitable host company



Manage and further develop processes by which Internship visits are undertaken



Oversee the implementation and management of the internship recording process, regulation, documentation and all procedures

4. Business development planning 

Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences and provide feedback and information on market, provider initiatives and trends



Undertake analysis of market and competitors and identify C&I unique selling propositions and differentiators



Actively engage with the C&I management team on market developments and trends with a view to developing new products and services and new distribution channels



Ensure a thorough understanding of C&I AND Navitas core strengths and capabilities

5. Reporting and Administration

Prepare regular reports on business development and industry engagement activity as required 6. Other 
