Call to Arms 7 Lost Time Injuries including 4 RIDDOR / Over 3 day Reportable injuries Despite improved performance through Period 6 and 7, we have recently had a number of incidents resulting in lost time. Although many of these lost time and RIDDOR incidents are fairly innocuous, it raises questions on how we get back to our injury-free performance. Summary of incidents:



Cut to bridge of nose after being struck on head while assembling shutter. No lost time.



Trapped fingers while raising a MEWP. 6 days lost time.



Twisted ankle whilst striking falsework - stepping on universal clip. 5 days on light duties.



Lower back injury whilst pulling cabling. 18 days lost time.



Back injury after being hit by a falling scaffold standard. 1 day lost time.



Foot injury after segment cradle, containing plinth blocks, overbalanced and toppled over. 8 days lost time.



Falling brickwork struck the injured person on the head and shoulder. 6 days on light duties.



Trapped thumb while adjusting safety rail on 3.5t truck. 8 days lost time.

Action Required:

The contractor should conduct the following during this week:    

Extended toolbox talks with all shifts to discuss and raise awareness of these incidents. Teams to evaluate work areas and inspect ground conditions. Remember think before you act and remain focused. Remember the Golden Rules and apply them to all that you do.
