GENERAL CAMP RULES Building relationships between campers and staff is one of Jr. High Camp’s primary goals. For this reason, Jr. High Camp will enforce the following policies: 1. Campers can not leave camp during the week as it disrupts the camp program and is strongly discouraged. 2. Camp does not have visiting periods for friends and relatives since the sessions are short. • State of Michigan mandates that anyone on camp property is required to have a completed volunteer application and a background check. 3. Homesickness is a normal reaction to a new environment and camp staff are trained in dealing with homesickness.

Phone calls to and from camp can exaggerate homesickness and therefore we do not allow campers access to the phones. We will, of course, contact you in case of emergency.

4. Radios, CD players, iPods, iPads, electronic games, cell phones, and similar items are not permitted and will be held at registration and returned at the end of the week. 5. The camp dress code:

• • • • • • • •

Modest clothing (No improper wording or graphics) Long shorts (Finger-tip length or longer; No short – shorts) T-shirts with sleeves (No string tank tops, midriff shirts, muscle shirts) 1-piece swim suits (all tankini suits will be required to wear a t-shirt over it) Safe footwear (tennis shoes) We suggest water shoes Leggings will not be allowed as a substitute for pants No body piercing earrings are allowed and will be asked to be removed ⇒ Only ear lobed earrings are allowed for girls and women only!

Behavioral/Non-Behavioral Dismissal Policy The Camp Director reserves the right to dismiss (send home) a camper who, in his/her opinion, is jeopardizing the safety and/or rights of others, or rejected the reasonable authority and rules of camp. Grounds for sending home a camper include, but are not limited to, the following: • Fighting, verbal assaults and any form of violence directed at campers or staff. • Disregard for camp policies, rules, other campers, and staff. Examples: profanity and direct disobedience. • Behavior which negatively affects the experience of other campers: taunting, bullying, not respecting the rights of others, difficulty relating to peers and authority figures. • Vandalism. Financial restitution will be required. • The use or possession of tobacco products, alcohol, drugs or weapons. • Camper unable to care for personal hygiene. • Prolonged one-on-one care of a camper due to emotional health, homesickness, physically unable to keep up with daily schedule due to medical/non-medical reasons. We desire to treat each camper with love and respect. We will work diligently with the camper and the parent to avoid discipline problems. However, sometimes problems do occur, and warrant parental involvement and/or dismissal from camp.
