WEDNESDAY JULY 12, 6:00-9:00 P.M. - MARINA PARK

MARY WALKER WITH SPECIAL GUEST JOLANTA BALADOWSKI 6:00 PM - LIVE ON THE WATERFRONT Mary Walker has been singing and playing guitar for nearly a decade. Her original songs range from indie folk to blues. She has performed at many venues in Thunder Bay, and throughout Australia while she lived there. Mary convinced her talented friend Jolanta Baladowski to share her musical gift and join her on stage. Mary and Jolanta have harmonies that blend together perfectly. They wear constant smiles when they play and it is evident that they are passionate and have fun doing what they both love to do; sing.

RYAN MACDONALD 7:00 PM - LIVE ON THE WATERFRONT Ryan MacDonald is a singer/songwriter born and raised in Thunder Bay. He spends his time as the lead singer of The Honest Heart Collective, a six-piece touring rock band. When he isn’t on the road, Ryan runs Lionheart Studios, which has become an incubator of new music for many local acts.

THE WHITE BUFFALO 8:00 PM - LIVE ON THE WATERFRONT Jake Smith, singer, songwriter, guitarist, and sole charter member was born in Oregon and raised in Huntington Beach. His parents helped to instill an abiding love for country music during his childhood, which subsequently gravitated towards punk rock. Over the course of five albums, various EPs, and numerous prominent placements in such high-profile outlets as TV’s Sons of Anarchy and Californication, Smith has built a powerful body of work that marks him as a genuine original. The California-bred artist writes timeless, vividly detailed character studies, tapping into the emotional lives of various misfits, outsiders and troubled souls with insight and compassion. His songwriting is matched by his rough-hewn, deeply expressive voice, and by his distinctive instrumental arrangements, which are simultaneously intimate and epic.

THE ONCE 7:15 PM & 8:15 PM - LIVE ON THE WATERFRONT With “vocal harmonies thick enough to stand on,” and armed with bouzouki, banjo, unaccompanied ballads and shanties, The Once have quickly earned their place amongst Newfoundland’s finest musical talent. Beginning in silence his performance could lead anywhere as he builds it live, inviting his audience to become a part of the unique final product. Although he was born in Thunder Bay, ON, De Roover was raised overseas in Africa, Asia and South America before moving back to Canada in 2001. This distinct upbringing has led him to create a post-pop style that is decidedly his own, blending ideas from rock, pop, a cappella and electronica.

NADJIWAN 8:00 PM - LIVE ON THE WATERFRONT The man behind the project and the music is Marc Meriläinen. Born in northern Manitoba and raised in the untamed beauty of Northwestern Ontario, Marc knew from an early age he would perform music. Marc is a member of the Chippewas of Nawash First Nation as well as has a Finnish heritage. After graduating from the Music Industry Arts program at Fanshawe College in London, Marc returned to Thunder Bay where he began collaborating with other First Nations musicians. The first NADJIWAN compact disc titled "Brother", released in 1995, went on to achieve much success in both Canada and the United States.

MAGIC! MAGIC! is a Toronto-bred, Los-Angeles-based quartet who scored the song of the summer, “Rude” – a buoyant reggae-pop tune that held the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for six weeks, charted in 41 countries, sold more than ten million singles and boasts over one billion views on VEVO. Now, MAGIC! Is back with 2017’s song of the summer, the smash hit collaboration ‘Girl At Coachella’ with Matoma ft. D.R.A.M. which has already soared past 20 million streams! Over the past 3 years MAGIC! has established itself as a bonafide sensation thanks to its undeniably catchy sound, superlative songwriting, and masterful musicianship. The band, which also features guitarist Mark Pelli, drummer Alex Tanas, and bassist Ben Spivak, released Primary Colours in 2016 with the Caribbean-tinged “Lay You Down Easy” (featuring Sean Paul), which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Reggae Digital Songs chart and racked up two million Spotify streams and one million VEVO views in its first two weeks.

KARDINAL OFFISHALL Born and raised in Toronto, a city where cultures of the world come together, Kardinal Offishall’s moniker of “Mr. International” is as fitting as it is catchy. With his notable twist of hip-hop music, spirited stage performances and captivating persona he stands out on a world stage. Incredibly original and widely received, Offishall has trekked across the globe performing in some of the most acclaimed stadiums, arenas and festivals where he, without fail, exhilarates fans with one-of-a-kind musically vivacious mash-up performances. From Prince’s Trust Fashion/Rock show that was broadcast to over 400 million viewers in over 70 countries worldwide, to performing multiple times at the MMVA’s, Offishall has become a notable figure amongst the top ranking in the music industry.

MIDNIGHT SHINE When singer/songwriter Adrian Sutherland was invited to open for Trooper in Timmins in 2011, there was one condition: he had to perform with a band. So he pulled together Zach Tomatuk (guitar/vocals), Stan Louttit (bass/vocals), and George Gillies (drums/vocals), and Midnight Shine was born. The Northern Ontario foursome has been together ever since, with a winning combination of energy, experience, and passion, and distinct style that seamlessly blends roots, classic and modern rock. They’ve so far released two albums, Midnight Shine and Northern Man, commercial-quality radio-friendly recordings that are quietly making ever-widening ripples among fans, industry, and media, and creating an impressive and compelling sonic identity that is sure to turn heads.

Cold Lake Sun has headlined Saturday night at Red Rock Folk Festival 2016, opened for Joel Plaskett at Live on the Waterfront 2016, and spent 2+ years gigging on the local live music scene at various venues around Thunder Bay.

THE HONEST HEART COLLECTIVE 8:00 PM - LIVE ON THE WATERFRONT Two brothers. A flicker of fire. An insatiable need to write together and an affinity for Irish whiskey. The Honest Heart Collective was born out of a no holds barred approach to putting the music first and a rotating cast of musicians made permanent. Singer Ryan MacDonald explained that the premise behind the record stemmed from a time when it was easier to lie than tell the truth and deal with it. Those struggles became words, and those words became songs. A passing moment on a city bus gave a man the perspective to take life day by day, minute by minute to a better place.
