Our 3rd Annual CAREER JAM is just around the corner! For those businesses that have not been able to attend past events, CAREER JAM is a one-day hands-on career exploration event for eighth grade students from local school districts. This event is designed to highlight local career possibilities in the 16 Career Clusters (for more information, please visit http://mygpsforsuccess.com/). CAREER JAM is a hands-on event designed to engage students and to encourage them to look at careers that are relevant to where we live. This is a FREE event, including lunch! We are asking for your help in showing our youth what careers are available locally by setting up an interactive booth that will allow students to examine what various occupations entail. An example could be a mock surgical room with a mannequin where youth remove an object. There is no fee to participate in this event, but donations to help offset the costs would be greatly appreciated. If you would like to make a donation, please send check payable to Jefferson-Lewis WDB with CAREER JAM written in the memo portion. All donations will be used strictly for CAREER JAM! Volunteers are encouraged and more than welcome! Set-up can be either the day before the event or the day of the event. The Watertown Municipal Arena will be open for set-up on May 17th from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm, and on May 18th starting at 8:00 am. Please find attached the CAREER JAM Registration Form which will provide us the details needed for your participation. Filling out the form completely will help us to determine what your needs are for the day of the event. Please return the form as soon as possible by either mail, email, or fax. If you wish to attend, but are unsure or still deciding on a hands-on activity, please return the Registration Form as is; and we will contact you to brainstorm ideas for an activity for the day. (Note that we will be providing FREE morning refreshments and FREE lunch for you and/or your staff.)
