6th Pastoral Anniversary

Celebrating Pastor and People

The Reverend Dr. Marcus D. Cosby serves as the Senior Pastor of Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. He received the Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion and English from Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee, the Master of Divinity degree in Homiletics and Christian Education from the Morehouse School of Religion at the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) in Atlanta, Georgia and the Doctor of Ministry degree in Homiletics from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Lombard, Illinois. Dr. Cosby was licensed to preach and ordained to the Christian Ministry at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Chicago, Illinois where the Reverend Dr. L.K. Curry served as pastor. It was at Emmanuel that he met and married his high school sweetheart, Mrs. Audrey Marie Cosby, and they have been blessed with three beautiful daughters, Adrienne Marie, Ashley Marie and Aliyah Marie and two sons, Marcus D., II and Matthew D. Cosby. Among the gifts and talents with which God has blessed Pastor Cosby, none are more meaningful and fulfilling to him than preaching and teaching. He has been blessed to carry his ministry across the country and on the mother continent of Africa. He has lectured, preached and taught in numerous conferences, conventions, retreats, revivals and on university and seminary campuses. He has become very sensitive to the spiritual needs of individuals, and therefore focuses his ministry primarily, but not exclusively toward persons who are hurting — especially in the church. Finally, Dr. Cosby seeks to empower and uplift all humanity through the life-changing, uncompromising Word of God. Dear Pastor Wesley When I arrived here from California . . . The Sunday we attended the service, was your 1st year Anniversary. It has indeed been a wonderful journey to have grown with you. When I am not here, I still listen to you online wherever I may be. I had taken a step back from attending church because I didn’t think that my mind & soul were being fed. Then, I heard your message one Sunday and knew that I had found a new church home. My family and I have received powerful messages, love, and a overwhelming amount of support from the ASBC family.

Preaching

Rev. Dr. Marcus D. Cosby Wheeler Avenue Baptist CHurch Houston, Texas

Happy 6th year Pastoral Anniversary! May God continue to bless you and keep you as you preach, teach and lead the ASBC family in the word of God. Listening while at work hasn't been good because I get wrapped up in hearing the Word of God through Pastor Wesley. I pray God will continue to allow Pastor Wesley to spread the word through preaching and teaching. While you pray for so many, know others are praying with and for you and your family! Thank you for answering the call of God on your life. You truly are a blessing to the body of Christ. I appreciate your style of ministry and passion to teach/preach the word of God. My hunger for the Word increased since I became a member a year ago. If I never remember anything else I remember, "Read your bible you'll be a better Christian." We have loved, admired and respected you from the moment you preached your first sermon at our church. Thank you for six, productive, exciting, teaching-preaching-God's-Word years. We have learned and gained so much from you! May God continue to bless you in all you do... Congratulation!! Pastor Wesley on your 6th year Anniversary. I have truly enjoyed your messages when you are here at Orange Grove Missionary Baptist Church. I know that God will continue to bless and keep you for many more years. I was at your Installation service (my first one) and will never forget it. I was asked to go since I had friends attending from Houston, and they needed transportation to your service. Later, they asked me why don't you join? I did! I've never regretted attending one Sunday at Alfred St. nor the friends I've made. What an anointed man of God you are. I have really been blessed by your messages. My son joined the church a couple of months ago, and now sings with Royal Priesthood. I came to hear him sing with the choir and have been attending each Sunday since. I am so grateful at how the church has welcomed my son. I am sure soon I too will be able to call Alfred Street my home as well. Peace & Blessings. Thank you for giving me that powerful message from God to help me get through the week. God Bless you and your family. I thank God for your wisdom of the Word of God and your unique way in how you teach it. I can't count how many times you've preached from a scripture that I read numerous of times not fully understanding and you come along and make it so plain. I am excited about the great things that God is doing in your life.

Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season . . .do the work . . . fulfill your ministry
