A Worshiping Community Finding Purpose for Life Between Sundays

For Such a Time As This Few among us relish change. Even under the best of circumstances, change can bring about anxiety and worry. Can you imagine what people at Antioch were saying when they learned Paul and Barnabas had parted ways? For a church, the departure of a pastor can be especially troubling, regardless of circumstances. So it is not surprising that Central is going through a particularly challenging time right now. With November now upon us and given the many recent changes, it is appropriate to reflect on the “state of Central.”

this?” and respond accordingly. Many of you are beginning to plan how to distribute your yearend charitable contributions. Would you consider Central Presbyterian Church in a special way this year? If you have not given to Central before, would you consider partnering with us financially in the coming weeks as we seek to continue to be a blessing to others, in spite of our current challenges? Our needs are more pronounced this year, and we believe that our future is promising. But we need your help.

The past months have left some weary, and we all share some level of concern for our church. As we acknowledge and address our challenges, we also praise God for the many good things that continue to happen at Central. Women’s Ministry continues to thrive, and through the various community outreach efforts, thousands of local St. Louisans have been blessed by this vital ministry. Central’s student ministry has been transformed through a greater focus on intentional relationships and spiritual growth. Missions continues to support This season of change is challenging us in many on a local, national, and international level, those ways, but if we rally together it has the potential called to bring the gospel to all the people of the to be a beautiful season at Central Presbyterian earth, as well as send out local teams of Central Church. Like Esther, we must ask ourselves if we members on short-term trips. Our new member’s “have not come to the kingdom for such a time as class is once again leading a group of believers who desire to be part of the Central family. These are Budgeted Expenses Actual Expenses but a few examples. Across the full $ (thousands) breadth of Central’s ministries, the $400 good news of Christ continues to be $350 shared. As you might imagine, when a senior pastor leaves it often presents a number of challenges for the church left behind. Since Dr. Doriani’s departure to return to academia, giving is down significantly. In expectation of reduced giving, whenever possible we have worked to keep expenses below budgeted levels for the first quarter of the fiscal year. Unfortunately, the reduction in giving has been steeper than anticipated, and is a trend that we need your help to reverse.

Thank you for your love of the Lord, your prayerful commitment to his church, and consideration of this appeal. Please join us in rallying together during this time of change at Central, so "that others may know Him."

Missions Update: Deb & David Walker One Challenge, Singapore Prayer and Praise Report: • Positive but cautious next steps are being taken in the formation of the partnership agreement with MK2021 movement leadership team (Cambodia). Please pray for the personal interviews between MK2021 leadership and OC leadership.

• It has been determined there is sufficient funding to begin the project in Myanmar with Church Planter Training and Leadership Development. Thank him for this wonderful provision. Please pray for planning sessions to take place in the near future.

• We were able to secure two venues in Cambodia for Sports Ambassadors Ministry. Please continue to pray for the recruitment of team members. • Our trip to Cambodia with Seth was fantastic. We experienced great family times and thoroughly enjoyed exploring together. Thank you for praying!

• As I type this, seven Nagaland short-term team members from Michigan are in the air heading to Singapore and then on to India with us. They will be training and encouraging teachers, dorm parents, and students in Dimapur at The Great Commission Kids Academy and the medical staff at The Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research. Also, they will be encouraging and exhorting the students and faculty at the United College of Theology and Missions as well as several local churches in the area. Please ask the Lord for traveling mercies, good health, and global connections.
