5 Things We Will Teach our Son or Daughter

We have two dogs in our family who love kids. Elphi is a 9-year-old SharPei mix who Chad rescued as a puppy. She was named after the leading character from his favorite musical, Wicked.

When Elphi was 3, we decided that we were really a 2-dog family and rescued Dewey, a Chihuahua/Terrier mix, who was 2 at the time. Our original plan was to rename Dewey, but the more we got to know him, the more Dewey’s name matched his personality.

Our Home

We have lived in our 2-story home since 2014 and have made several updates to make it perfect for our family. Our neighborhood is an established subdivision in a great school district with lots of mature trees, which are great for climbing and less than 10 minutes away from James’ entire family. We’ve got a spacious fenced in backyard that is perfect for running, playing and hosting cookouts. Chad can also be found tinkering in the raised garden in the Spring and Summer. 
 Our house is full of pictures of our friends and family throughout various stages in our lives. While it may never be flawless or quiet, its filled with the joyful sounds of our friends, family, music and pets.

We’re Chad and James and we’d like to welcome you to our fabulous profile (this is the part where we’d throw confetti if we were there)! Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about us. 
 While we can’t condense our life stories into 4 pages, we hope that you’ll be able to see that we’re 2 funloving and caring guys who are devoted to our families and can’t wait to build one of our own!

Our Goals For Adoption

We are both very open to the idea of sharing the life story of your child with you and even including you in our lives. We enjoy taking lots of photos and will be sure to share them with you on a regular basis along with letters about your child. We plan to be open about your child’s history, the adoption process and the loving decision you made, especially since they will be raised in a 2 father home. We want to make sure they are fully prepared and comfortable to explain it to their friends. Thank you again for taking the time to learn more about us. We hope that we can be there for you during your adoption plan and look forward to beginning this journey together.

Our Favorites: About James (as told by Chad) James is 31 years old and grew up in Central Ohio. Even though he is an only-child, he comes from a large family full of aunts, uncles, cousins and second cousins who are all local. James is very close to his mother and speaks to her on a daily basis (she is even one of our workout buddies!). 
 He’s been working in the mortgage industry for the last 4 years where his focus is in the area of Customer Service. He’s been promoted multiple times in his short time with the bank and is currently in charge of scheduling for one of the call centers. He likes to spend his free time discovering new music through blogs and Twitter, coloring in his adult coloring books, and staying up on the latest men’s fashion and technology trends (He would definitely call himself a ‘Nerd’!). 
 James is one of the most kindhearted people I have ever met and has a knack for remaining calm and patient in the most stressful situations. He is definitely the creative one of the 2 of us and has an amazing eye for color. Seeing the way that James interacts with our nephews and the other children in our families, there is no doubt in my mind that he will be a caring and attentive father who any child would be lucky to call “Dad”.

Apple & Pumpkin Picking: Every Fall, James’ family goes to a local orchard to spend the day picking apples and choosing just the right pumpkins to make the perfect jack-olanterns!

Seafood Boil: We host an annual seafood boil in our backyard to kick off the beginning of fall. We even prepare the food outside and serve it on a table lined with newspaper.

Christmas: We begin the weekend before Thanksgiving and go through the end of December. The season is filled with family, friends, shopping and traveling! From hosting Christmas Eve with James’ family to watching home movies and playing board games with Chad’s family, our Christmas traditions are probably our favorite! Columbus Pride Festival: We co-host a brunch every summer with our close friends and family then venture out to watch the parade.

Hello!

Chad grew up in a small town in Southern Ohio; the kind of place where everyone knows everyone’s name. He is 6’5”, which of course always garners the question “did you play basketball?” And the answer is yes! He played basketball and ran Cross Country and Track & Field in high school. He has 1 sister that is 18 months older who is married with 2 sons. He is extremely close with all of his family, but especially his parents and his sister (He speaks to his mother and sister on a daily basis,) and sees the rest of his family at least once a month.

We met online 10 years ago and spent our first date at Starbucks and walking around the mall. After being together for almost 5 years, Chad popped the question on James’ 26th birthday. We got married a year and We’re Chad and James and we’d like to a half later in an old bank that was turned into an event hall, which was fitting based on our careers in the banking industry. welcome you to our fabulous profile

Chad studied Strategic Communications at The Ohio State University (which he claims is really just Business without Math) and landed a job with one of the leading financial institutions in the area right out of college. He has been there now for 8 years and has been promoted multiple times within the organization. He is very passionate about his career in the mortgage industry and currently manages the team that is responsible for overseeing the implementation of regulatory changes.

At the time, same-sex marriage wasn’t legal in Ohio, so instead of confetti if we were there)! Thank you honeymooning some place tropical, we opted to honeymoon in New York City where we could get married legally. So now, we celebrate our Ohiofor taking the time to learn a little Our First Adoption wedding anniversary and our New York anniversary. Chad likes to say more about us. Class “Our wedding was so nice, we did it twice.” 


He likes to spend time relaxing in the backyard while gardening or doing other yard work. If he isn’t outside, you can usually find him either planning a get together with friends or in the kitchen, where he loves to experiment with new recipes. No matter what he is doing, you can bet he has some sort of music playing, usually with a dance to go along with it.

We both have a passion for traveling and seeing the world, which we got from our families. Chad’s family owns 2 time shares, which allows us tostories into 4 pages, we hope that go on at least 1 family vacation a year. Some of our favorites include:you’ll be able to see that we’re 2 funJamaica, St. Maarten, Hilton Head, Siesta Key, and Gatlinburg; but our loving and caring guys who are all-time favorite vacation destination is Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.


 Chad is one of the most caring and loyal people that anyone could ask to have in their lives. He would much rather have a few extremely close friends than be surrounded by a bunch of acquaintances. These qualities, along with the fact that he is kind and gives his whole self to those that he loves, will ensure that any child will be proud to say “That’s my dad!”
