In 2001, there were 94 member eye banks in the Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA) reporting data 79 eye banks in 2011, new one in FL in 2012 In 2012, there were 80 member eye banks and 9 international eye banks 80 US banks included data reported separately from 4 satellite eye banks There are an estimated 35 eye banks that are not EBAA members outside US serving African, European, Pan-American, and Asian surgeons



Prior to 2004, all grafts (lamellar and penetrating) were reported under the heading “corneal grafts”.

In 2005, 1) anterior lamellar keratoplasty (ALK), 2) endothelial keratoplasty (EK) and 3) keratolimbal allograft (KLA) were split as separate keratoplasty procedures

Statistics are only as good as eye banks (and surgeons) submit, so please complete eye bank forms after keratoplasty procedures! Overall total keratoplasty numbers flat in 2012, increased 2% (67,590 to 68,681) from 2011. PK increased 1.6% (36,144 to 36,716) in 2012 65% increase in 2011. Long term tissue? Stat format?
