Chief Executive

Aberdeen Harbour, administered by the Aberdeen Harbour Board (AHB), is a Trust Port with a turnover of £32 million, handling around 7,500 vessel arrivals, 158,000 passengers and over 4 million tonnes of cargo, for a wide range of industries, annually. Following planning consent, the board has approved commencement of a £350 million harbour expansion project. The new facilities will include 1,400 metres of new quay, with a water depth of up to 10.5 metres and will create an additional 125,000 square metres of lay-down area. An independent study, commissioned by Scottish Enterprise, estimates that the development will generate an additional £1 billion per annum to the economy by 2035, and will create an additional 7,000 equivalent jobs. AHB now seeks to appoint a successor to its current Chief Executive, who has indicated his intention to retire, effective from October 2017. He or she will lead Aberdeen Harbour and its 95 employees to deliver the vision of AHB to be a major, commercially successful and sustainable Trust Port, integral to the North East of Scotland’s transport infrastructure and provide an increasingly significant contribution to its economic growth. This Chief Executive position requires recent senior management experience of reporting to a Board and with responsibility for developing strategy and the management of all or a significant part of an organisation’s operations and resources. It is desirable, though not essential, that this experience is from the port sector. Application is by submission of CV and covering letter.
