Director of Children’s Ministries Childcare Workers Part Time Non-exempt Job Summary

The Childcare Coordinator will provide a safe, welcoming Christian environment for children ages birth through fifth grade in nursery and childcare, and will be responsible for scheduling childcare workers for all Westlake United Methodist Church events requiring childcare.

Essential Functions: • • • • •

Interviewing and hiring childcare workers with assistance from DCM. Training childcare workers in the procedures to be followed according to the WUMC Child, Youth, and Adult Safety Policy. Ensuring childcare workers are scheduled for all events requiring childcare. Effectively communicating key information about childcare needs and resources, as well as childcare workers. Serving as liaison between parents of children in childcare and childcare workers.

Keeping timesheets for childcare workers and delivering them to DCM for approval by the deadlines for each pay period. Ensuring that all Nursery staff and volunteers who work with children have had background checks and safety training as required by the WUMC Child, Youth, and Adult Safety Policy. Creating attractive and welcoming spaces that encourage children’s interest, participation, and enjoyment. Participating in regular meetings with DCM.

Minimum Qualifications • • • • •

Experience in early childhood or elementary education, managing personnel, and team building. Commitment to serve 2 or more years in this capacity. Ability to manage scheduling and adapt to changing situations as they arise. Ability to be present on Sunday mornings. Personal maturity and genuine commitment to Christian ministry that demonstrates trustworthy integrity, caring relationships, and an enthusiastic joy in sharing one’s personal gifts and abilities through the ministries of Westlake United Methodist Church.

Physical Requirements •

Must be able climb stairs, lift 40 pounds, and bend to be at eye level with small children
