Christ Church Cathedral Youth Internship This position is a year-‐long internship that supports the youth ministry at Christ Church Cathedral. The youth intern will invest in 6th-‐12th grade students by building deep and meaningful relationships, modeling a Christ-‐like lifestyle and attitude, assisting and leading ministry events, and becoming involved in the life of Christ Church Cathedral. Objective of the Youth Internship • The objective for the youth internship will be to serve, lead, teach, mentor, and motivate the youth at Christ Church Cathedral in their walk with God. We encourage our Interns to follow the words of Paul when he said to Titus… “In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness, and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned.” –Titus 2:7-8 • Gain hands-‐on experience in youth and urban ministry. • Begin to formulate and articulate a philosophy of youth ministry. Job Description • Covenant to one year at a minimum, with the possibility of continuing for an additional year. • Attend, assist, and lead in all youth events: one church service, Sunday School from 10-‐11 a.m., EYC on Sundays from 4-‐6 p.m., school lunch, community service days, lock-‐ins, retreats, mission trips, etc… • Work with the Minister for Youth in planning program for events. • Assist in promoting events by communicating with youth and parents via email, phone calls, and social media. • Attend staff meeting on Tuesday mornings. • Attend at least two Vestry meetings. • Ask questions, seek leadership, take risks, and learn. • Take “Safeguarding God’s Children” course. • Regularly spend time in personal and spiritual development to maintain your own spiritual health outside of ministry. • Work days are flexible according to school schedule and other events. A typical work week would include 25 hours with 10-‐12 weeks out of the year being 40+ hours. Qualifications • A passion for proclaiming the Good News. • A passion for working with youth. • Willingness to learn, fail, and grow. • An ability to teach and lead individuals and groups. • Must be at least one year out of high school.
