Our half-day Preschool and Kindergarten programs allow each child to develop socially, emotionally, intellectually, physically and spiritually. We offer opportunities daily for children ages 12 months through Kindergarten to explore their abilities, express ideas and play with friends. Enrichment programs such as Music, Science, Chapel, Creative Movement, My Gym, Christian Education and Learning Center (our school library) broaden the children’s exposure to the greater world around them and enhance classroom experiences. Field trips, seasonal performances, and special events help expand learning outside the classroom and build confidence in our children. Our curriculum, staff, and classroom environment inspire children to become life-long learners.

SPECIAL AREA CLASSES

T ODDLER P ROGRAM

Chapel (Fours & Kindergarten) Chapel is a time for children to worship through song and stories with the Christ Church clergy and our music teacher. Students in each class have the opportunity to participate in the bi-weekly service by helping light candles, carry the cross and sing together.

✻ Registration opens January 3 and closes on February 2 at noon.

Our Toddler curriculum is developed around the natural curiosity of toddlers to explore and learn. Toddler teachers guide children in learning to separate from parents and play in a community environment. Toddlers are encouraged to explore and play in a safe, happy and loving environment anchored in traditional Christian values. Children are introduced to colors, counting and shapes through seasonal experiences and classroom interactions. Toddlers learn new vocabulary and communication skills as they interact with teachers and peers each day. Toddler Teacher/Student Ratio: 2:8

✻ A child’s class assignment is determined by his/her age as of

Our Two-Year-Old classes focus on peer interaction and social development. Our teachers guide students in learning about the world around them through stories, songs and play. Colors, numbers and shapes are incorporated into the curriculum through classroom activities and seasonal thematic units. Our TwoYear-Old classes enjoy trips to the Learning Center and Science Lab each month and love singing with our music teacher during weekly classroom visits. Twos Teacher/Student Ratio: 2:8-10

T HREE -Y EAR -O LD P ROGRAM Our Three-Year-Olds continue to develop a love of learning through discovery and exploration. Daily activities and new concepts are introduced during circle time and explored throughout the day during artwork, story time and centers. Three-Year-Olds are introduced to a Letter of the Week and enjoy learning through play and small group instruction. Three-Year-Old teachers strive to strengthen independence, develop self-help skills, and increase selfconfidence through daily activities. Music, Christian Education, Learning Center, Science and Creative Movement classes enrich the school day for our ThreeYear-Old children. Threes Teacher/Student Ratio: 2:12-14

F OUR -Y EAR -O LD P ROGRAM Four-Year-Old teachers provide an environment where students can continue exploring the world around them through free play, artwork, story time, centers and field trips. Four-Year-Olds take a more in-depth look at the alphabet by investigating each letter, its unique sound(s), and letter formation. Classes are also introduced to fine motor skills and games that are basic building blocks for handwriting. In addition to Music, Christian Education, Learning Center, Science and Creative Movement Classes, our Fours attend a formal Chapel service twice monthly. Fours Teacher/Student Ratio: 2:12-14

K INDERGARTEN P ROGRAM Our Kindergarten Program uses the Lippincott curriculum to develop phonological awareness, support phonics instruction, teach handwriting skills and development of pre-reading and reading skills. The Kindergarten math curriculum uses hands-on activities to develop number concepts and early math skills. Our Kindergarten program is enriched by a variety of field trips that enhance classroom learning. Music, Christian Education, Learning Center, Science, Creative Movement and Chapel classes are an integral part of our Kindergarten curriculum. Kindergarten Teacher/Student Ratio: 2:12-14

Christian Education (Threes, Fours, & Kindergarten) During weekly visits, our Christian Education teacher uses the Godly Play curriculum to teach Bible stories. The stories use manipulatives and props to help bring Bible stories to life for the children. Creative Movement (Threes, Fours & Kindergarten) Classes learn through the art of dance during Creative Movement. This program helps children develop gross motor skills, listening skills, gentle hands, imagination and a warm heart, through creative play and exercise. My Gym (Toddlers & Twos) Our Two-Year-Old and Toddler Classes participate in My Gym classes to work on gross motor skills, body control and listening. Once a month, My Gym’s staff brings their movement rich program to CCK. Two-Year-Olds begin in October and Toddlers begin in January. Learning Center (Toddlers, Twos, Threes, Fours & Kindergarten) Threes, Fours and Kindergartners visit the Learning Center twice monthly. Twos and Toddlers visit the Learning Center once per month. Learning Center teachers read a fictional story, discuss a subject covered in the story, and lead the class in a related activity. Children learn literary terms such as author, illustrator, fiction, and non-fiction. They also choose their own books to check out and keep in their classrooms until their next visit. Music (Toddlers, Twos, Threes, Fours & Kindergarten) Our music teacher strives to make music fun for all ages with silly songs and lots of movement during weekly classroom visits. Fours and Kindergartners perform a special musical Thanksgiving story and Threes perform a Songfest each Spring. Science Lab (Twos, Threes, Fours, & Kindergarten) Children enjoy visiting the Science Lab twice monthly to learn about the wonderful world of science through demonstrations, stories and handson activities. Students use scientific process skills such as observation, classification, questioning, predicting, experimenting and communication as they explore the Science Lab. Extracurricular Activities & Field Trips Grey Seal Puppets and Children’s Theater visit CCK each year to present theatrical performances. Fours and Kindergarten classes attend two offcampus field trips per year. All School Chapel Once a month all CCK children gather in All Saints’ Hall for our All School Chapel. Christ Church Clergy lead us in singing songs and learning more about God’s love for us.
