Christ Presbyterian Academy Overview Christ Presbyterian Academy, established in 1985, is a parochial, coeducational, college-preparatory school dedicated to excellent education built on a Christian worldview, and is an educational ministry of Christ Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Nashville, Tennessee. Position description: Director of Educational Technology

Position title: Director of Educational Technology Position currently occupied by: (vacant) Position reports to: Academic Dean Position oversees: Integrationists and IT Department

SECTION I Position Purpose The Director of Educational Technology (DET) provides vision and leadership in all areas of educational technology at Christ Presbyterian Academy. He or she is responsible for the development, administration, implementation, and evaluation of technology to support the mission of the school. The DET works with the administration, faculty, and staff to integrate the most effective tools for student learning and most efficient technology and use of data throughout the school.

SECTION I I Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities •

Evaluate the use of technology at all levels of the Academy, and advise administration on technology use.



Assist faculty in selecting hardware, software, and web-based instructional curricula and resources.



Model and support the effective integration of technology in the classroom.



Use and teach the use of new technologies, multimedia hardware and applications, basic software applications, and common operating systems school-wide and in specific arenas.



Work with the IT department to design and implement computer networks suitable for educational settings, and help to evaluate the work of the IT department.



Supervise technology support staff to ensure effective and timely tech support throughout the school.



Research options for new media and online learning, including the use of Learning Management System (Moodle) and electronic textbooks.



Develop and coordinate training-and-development programs for faculty, students, and parents on the use of educational technologies to enhance teaching and learning.



Identify members of the larger community capable of sharing their technical expertise with the school, and coordinate professionaldevelopment opportunities for faculty and staff.



Energize teachers to be leaders with their colleagues in the use of educational technologies.



Assist in the continual development, monitoring, and periodic evaluation of the Continuous Improvement Plan in the area of technology.



Develop and oversee the technology budget.



Share information on trends, research, applications, and best practices related to the use of technology in school programs and systems.



Update and maintain hardware and software standards, policies, and procedures as they relate to the responsibilities of users (including copyright-integrity and responsible-use policies).



Maintain a strong presence in the technology arena both digitally and in the local and national arenas (presenting at conferences; maintaining active memberships in local, state, and national technology associations; networking with others in similar positions elsewhere).

SECTION III Qualifications And Requirements KNOWLEDGE



Jesus Christ as Savior along with the commitment to follow his leadership.



Current PreK-12 instructional practices; principles and techniques of integrating educational technology; principles and techniques for project planning, scheduling, and control; emerging trends in instructional technology and management of budgets.



Administrative applications of technology.



Hardware components and their functions, particularly Mac products.



Fundamental network design and common network operating systems.



New development in the areas of software, hardware, networks, telecommunications, training, and maintenance, particularly in the field of education.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES



Operating standard office equipment including utilizing pertinent software applications.



Working and communicating well with the administration, faculty, and staff who are at diverse levels of technological knowledge.



Providing leadership, direction, and team-building in efforts to advance the technology programs.



Working independently under time constraints to set goals and meet deadlines.

EXPERIENCE



Minimum of 3 years instructional experience, including advancedlevel computer courses



Minimum of 3 years specialized experience with educational technology

E D U C AT I O N



BA or BS in education or related field



Master’s or higher degree strongly preferred

REQUIREMENTS
