Christ Presbyterian Academy Overview Christ Presbyterian Academy, established in 1985, is a parochial, coeducational, college-preparatory school dedicated to excellent education built on a Christian worldview, and is an educational ministry of Christ Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Nashville, Tennessee. With a diversity of both academic abilities and socioeconomic backgrounds, the school emphasizes small classes, close student-faculty interactions, and a commitment to help students develop their academic skills and personal abilities in a supportive Christian environment. High School Principal Position Summary The High School Principal is responsible for all day-to-day academic and cocurricular operation of the secondary program. In concert with the Headmaster, the Principal will provide holistic leadership and direction to the secondary program. This leader must implement and execute the policies, philosophy, and mission of the high school. The High School Principal holds responsibility in all matters pertaining to the secondary school in functional areas of personnel, curriculum, spiritual life, discipline, public relations, program, arts and athletics.  One critical facet of this position is to provide team leadership to the staff and faculty. The Principal will be expected to nurture, evaluate, and mentor the staff and faculty.  The Principal is one of the key administrators at CPA. They are expected to keep the Headmaster informed of pertinent information as to the operation of the secondary program.  In addition, the Principal will be the chief spokesperson for the High School program and must play a leading role with all constituencies of the Christ Presbyterian Academy community. The community is composed of, but not limited to, students, parents and families, staff and faculty, community leaders and organizations, and Trustees.

Christ Presbyterian Academy Position: High School Principal Supervises: High school faculty and staff Direct report: Headmaster SECTION I - Position Description The High School Principal serves as the leader of all facets of the high school, and ensures that all programs of the high school have full integration of the Academy’s mission, vision, values, and goals.

SECTION I I - POSITION OUTCOMES AND EXPECTATIONS Faculty and Staff Leadership: •

Oversee and direct the activities of each department, the sponsors of student organizations and activities, as well as faculty committees.  



Ensure each department of the high school is setting and achieving annual goals appropriately aligned with Academy-wide goals.



Ensure the Academy philosophy of education is evident in all areas of the school.



Observe, supervise, and evaluate the faculty using the Academy’s evaluation protocol to provide annual feedback.



In collaboration with Academy leadership, provide internal and external professional development based on needs-based assessments of staff and the Academy Continuous Improvement Plan



Make recommendations to the Headmaster regarding the hiring, firing, retention, and assignment of faculty.  



In collaboration with the Academy leadership ensure that teachers are familiar with and adhere to school policies in all areas of the school operation.

Building Management: •

Oversee and manage the day-to-day operation of the high school and all of its schedules, classes, and events. All management should be aligned with the operation of the PS-12 Academy.



Develop and maintain organizational procedures and processes to implement innovative instructional programs that help accomplish the PS-12 Academy-wide goals as established in the Continuous Improvement Plan.



Oversee the coordination of the cocurricular and extracurricular

activity programs, school assemblies, and assist in maintaining a comprehensive calendar of school events •

Conduct regular meetings with faculty, which will deal both with routine school matters as well as the exchange of ideas on issues of educational/philosophical interest and concern.  



Provide for the academic guidance of students; maintain complete academic records on all students; oversee the grading and the reporting of standards and methods used by teachers in measuring student achievement.  



Manage monetary items, staff projections, and staff allocations in compliance with the budget.



Utilize school data to make decisions regarding student academic performance, college admission, as well as student behavior and teacher development.



Establish the annual master schedule for instructional programs, ensuring sequential learning experiences for students consistent with the school’s philosophy, mission, values, instructional goals, and priorities.



Assist in the admissions process of testing, interviewing, and evaluating applicants for enrollment.  



Ensure compliance with all laws (state and federal), board policies, educational standards established by the Tennessee Board of Regents and Tennessee Higher Education Commission, agencies that examine and accredit the school, and any relevant civil regulations.

School Culture and Student Life: •

Foster a climate of spiritual investigation, growth and mentoring between faculty and students that is aligned with Academy philosophy of ministry and stated beliefs.



Create an atmosphere in which the traits of integrity, empathy, humility, service, respect, work ethic, unity, and courage can grow and develop in the high school students.



Be a visible presence in all areas of the school; work toward a resolution of all problems—both routine and unique—as they arise; keep the Headmaster informed of the general programs, activities, and problems of the school.  



Be aware of the educational, physical, social, psychological and spiritual needs of the members of our school community, and develop plans for assessing (collecting data) and meeting these needs.  



Supervise in a fair and consistent manner effective discipline and attendance systems with high standards, consistent with the philosophy, values, and mission of the school.

Communication: •

Communicate openly and effectively with parents, faculty and students, seeking their support and investment, so as to create a cooperative partnership for an optimal school environment.



Work with parents to resolve issues quickly and confidentially.



Use effective presentation skills when addressing students, staff,

parents, as well as the community. •

Use excellent written and oral English skills when communicating with students, parents and teachers.



Complete in a timely fashion all records and reports as requested by the Headmaster and/or Board of Trustees.



Maintain accurate academic, behavioral and attendance records.

SECTION I I - QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: Professional Qualifications: •

A record of success as a high-school principal or assistant principal with overall responsibility for academics, cocurricular activities, and staff development. 



Three or more years of academic leadership required.



A bachelor’s and a master’s degree are required; a doctorate is not required, but will be valued.

Personal Qualifications: •

The most significant personal qualification is the acceptance of Jesus Christ as personal Savior, and a life that reflects spiritual maturity and intimacy with God. A prospective candidate will be an individual whose life is lived out as a humble Christ-like example in his or her home and community.



A confident servant-leader whose style exemplifies Biblical principles of leadership and whose life exhibits appropriate Biblical balance. CPA is seeking someone who can lead by example and inspire others to excellence by personal example.



A track record of effectively working with and leading teams.  Others will describe the viable candidate as a person who is capable of mentoring other leaders, building teams, and creating a supportive work environment.



Evidence of the ability to think strategically and to accurately analyze complex situations. 



A problem-solver, who can engage appropriate parties in the development and implementation of solutions.



Strength as a proactive manager rather than a skilled crisis manager.



Possess strong interpersonal skills and an agreeable personality; be known as a consensus builder. 



Must be able to maintain confidentiality.



The nature of this role requires that any viable candidate is an effective communicator with excellent oral and written communications skills.

Requirements: •

Committed to performing his/her duties in accordance with the stated mission and purpose of the school, Christ Presbyterian Academy Policies and Procedures Manual, and the Westminster Confession of Faith. All employees must be evangelical Christians and active members of an evangelical Christian church.
