CHURCH FAMILY Birthday greetings to Johanna R who celebrates her 85th birthday today, July 31. Thank you to everyone who helped with food, entertainment, and with the set-up and clean up for the church picnic. Thank you to all those who came and brought family and friends. It was such an enjoyable evening of fellowshipping together as a church family.

The speaker is Dr. Kurt Alan VerBeek on Reframing Justice: Models from Hondruras. Dr. VerBeek directs Calvin College's Justice Studies semester in Honduras. He has lived and worked on development and justice issues in Central America for more than 25 years by standing up for victims of violence, labor and land-rights abuse and government corruption in Honduras, organizations around the world, including Transparency International and the United Nations.  FIRST CHURCH FAMILY CAMP – SEPTEMBER 9-11: Mark your calendars and plan to join us for a weekend of hiking, games, and fellowship at the First Family Camp! We will once again be staying at the Grandy Creek KOA near Concrete, Washington the weekend after Labor Day. If you don’t have an RV, you can stay in a tent or cabins are available. You are welcome to come the whole weekend, part of the time, or just for the potluck on Saturday! All ages are welcome for this last hurrah of summer. Reserve your spot by contacting the KOA at 360-826-3554 and mention that you want a site reserved for First CRC.  FOUR SQUARE COURT: Do you notice new yellow lines in one corner of the parking lot? The Council and Properties Ministry Team graciously permitted and implemented lines for two Four Square courts. If you don’t know what the game Four Square is, just ask Pastor Robert. These courts will allow students that attend our student ministries (GEMS, Cadets, Oasis, Tribe, etc.) to burn off a bit of energy before our study time. Challenge: If you can beat Pastor Robert at Four Square Dan will shake your hand and give you two movie theater passes.

 NAME CHANGE: After years of calling youth group “High School Youth Group” we are changing our name to Tribe. The reason for this is that our high school youth group is made up of a very diverse group of students. We have students that attend various schools, several international students that come from China and Korea, we have students that normally attend another church, we have video gamers, athletes, vocalist, artists, and farmers. Our vision is based on Revelation 7:9-10 where there was a “great multitude, that no one could count from every tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb.” that God gathered together to worship Him. Our hope is that students, no matter their differences, would feel a part of the tribe and unite under the same purpose of glorifying God.  SERVE COMING TO FIRST CRC – JUNE 2017: Each year students travel to SERVE worksites hosted by churches and serve the communities around the country. June 24-July 1 is our opportunity to host 50 students and leaders from around the country in order to serve our community, give our students leadership opportunities, and help our guest youth groups gain a heart for serving and missions. Perhaps God would use this experience in the hearts of participants to fulltime ministry. Who knows maybe we would have the opportunity to encourage the next Billy Gram, Billy Sunday, Elisabeth Elliot, Amy Carmichael, or Dwight L. Moody. We need volunteers to help coordinate various aspects of the week with various time commitments and tasks. Please see Dan for more details.  MISSING TABLE CLOTH: A large lace table cloth is missing from the basement kitchen. If you happened to have taken it home to wash please return to kitchen and let the church office know it has been returned. If it was ruined and can’t be returned, please notify the office.
