Become familiar with the relevant drawings, specifications and instructions, checking them and using them as a reference when inspecting the work. Making visual inspections and monitoring the activities of the contractor in accordance with the contract. Taking measurements and samples on site to make sure that the work and the materials comply with the specification and quality standards. Checking that the work complies with the legal and contractual standards. Checking the contractors compliance with Health and Safety legislation and bringing any shortfalls observed to the attention of the relevant parties. Understanding the Construction Environmental Management Plan for the project and checking the contractors compliance and bringing any shortfalls observed to the attention of the relevant parties. Preparing weekly reports on Progress, Quantity and Quality of Contractor activities. Taking instruction and supervision from the Senior Clerk of Works and liaising with other Clerks of Works on the project. Co-ordinating with other Aberdeen Harbour Board staff and external consultants in relation to the project. Monitoring and verifying the materials to be used/reused. Inspecting all operations on site and ensuring contractors compliance with good workmanship and safe working practices. Maintaining daily records of site activity, equipment, weather, stoppages, labour resources, site visitors, drawings received, deliveries, instructions and the like and commenting on issues where appropriate. Attendance at meetings as required by the Project Manager.

Additional Relevant Information about Job: The role will involve shift work split within the CoW team to provide cover during any working hours and will require overseas deployment for a period.
