UMCOR Kits Our United Methodist Women would like to help FUMC deliver UMCOR Kits to the VA Annual Conference again this year. Recent disasters, such as the tornados in our own state of Virginia, have shown us how important these kits are in times of crisis. The kits are so easy to assemble but provide so much relief to those in need. Kits may be delivered to the Mission Control room (deadline: June 6) or bring a check (made out to FUMW) to purchase a kit and place it in the UMW box in the mail room. A description of these kits may be found on the UMW Bulletin Board (on wall across from the Food Pantry), at the end of the UMW annual Handbook, and on the UMCOR website WWW.UMCOR.org/. Sample kits are now on display in the glass case in the Gathering Space. Questions? Please contact Barbara Williams at [email protected] or at 540-899.3767.

Each year, members of local churches are encouraged to raise money for global mission projects designated by the bishop. Methodist Mission in Cambodia - $50,000; Funds will support the training of lay and clergy leadership, purchase of property and construction of new church buildings. United Methodist Church in Mozambique - $25,000; your gift can help fund resources for training laity in two conference in that country. Virginia Conference Disaster Response - $50,000; Conference Disaster Response volunteers are gearing up for long-term recovery work that will include repairing damaged homes, rebuilding homes that were destroyed and offering Christ’s love and hope to those who suffered loss. I would like to help:

Mary has been a member here since 2002 ___ Sound Team Dear Church Family: We would like to thank you for the prayer, prayer shawl and church picture that were presented to us during the Contemporary Service our last Sunday at FUMC. It is with great sadness we are leaving the area and our church home. We will cherish the gifts as much as we cherish the gift givers. Arriving in Fredericksburg 18 years ago, we found FUMC via a casual conversation on a park bench with another mother as we sat and watched our toddlers play. As she described her church and the fantastic preschool it housed, her enthusiasm and love of this church was real and sincere. She was the lamp. Once at FUMC, we saw the light. We are grateful for the Pastors, past and present, who have led our congregation in worship. We are grateful for the multitude of church members who volunteer their time as teachers, lay leaders, ushers (specially the 0945 ones), council and committee members, organizers, etc. We are grateful for this congregation. We are thankful God placed that mom in our path all those year ago. What a blessing this church has been to our family.

A very generous donor is challenging FUMC to support our FOOD PANTRY. The donor is offering $15,000 if we can raise $7,500. This means the donor will contribute $2.00 for every $1.00 donated by the congregation.

___ Hospitality/Refreshments

Because of this generosity, the SERVE Team will conduct a fund-raising campaign through the month of June. All donations will support the Food Pantry. Details will be published beginning next week.

Candle burning May 8 was the kick-off for 2016 Candle burning program. This is the last weekend, to find envelopes around the church on desks and in racks for your opportunity to make a donation in honor of or in memory of a loved one. All donations will be used for the mission projects of the United Methodist Women around the world. Make checks out to FUMW and put the envelope in the offering plate, in the slot beside the financial office, or in the UMW box in the copy room. We thank you for your generosity

General Conference Bishop Cho and The Council of Bishops have issued letters to the People of the United Methodist Church. If you are interested go in reading them, go to www.vaumc.org the links are on the first page.

Imagine!!! That picture of George Washington on the dollar is really worth $3 to the FUMC Food Pantry. The fabled three-dollar bill can be a reality.
