On Sunday, January 18 Mount Vernon’s membership voted in all three services to call Jimmy Finch to serve as Minister of Music. We pray God’s blessings, wisdom and vision be upon Jimmy and his family as they continue in ministry here at Mount Vernon.

Youth
We have some big changes for our annual DNOW Retreat. First, we are moving it to the spring. Secondly, because of our growth, we are splitting up the high school and middle school. This means that we will have two DNOW weekends! Check out the details below!
2015
Middle School DNOW | March 20-22 @ Uplands Reach
The cost is $20 and will cover lodging, food and activities. This year we will have a rock climbing wall, bonfire, a service project and much more. We will have several times of worship and preaching from Neal Hatfield. Registration will begin on Sunday, February 22 and will continue through Sunday, March 8. You can pay online at mvbcb.org or at the registration table in the Education Lobby.
High School DNOW | April 24-26 @ Holsten Presbytery Camp
Our students will go to the same location as last year but with a much different feel. This year we will be welcoming Mike Riddle from Answers in Genesis. Mike is one of the most sought after apologist from Answers in Genesis and loves to help teens understand the truth about creation and evolution. The cost is $20 and covers your lodging, food and most activities. Our schedule will be filled with canoeing, field games, bonfire, a service project and much more. There will also be an option to play paintball or go rock climbing for an additional $20. Registration will begin on Sunday, March 29 and will continue through Sunday, April 12. You can pay online at mvbcb.org or at the registration table in the Education Lobby through February 22. Registration includes a non-refundable $50 deposit.

2015 Ed Newton will be speaking and Rush of Fools will be leading worship. You will have the opportunity to serve from several ministry areas such as children’s beach ministry, sports ministry or construction. Cost: $175. You can register in the Education Lobby every Sunday beginning February 1. 6

North Carolina Needs Christ

The NC Baptist State Convention says that Winston-Salem has “Pockets of Darkness” that need the Light of Christ. They also tell us that 5.6 million people in North Carolina do not know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. We invite any and all that would like to go with Pastor Travis to Winston Salem and help push back the darkness and bring down the number of lost people in North Carolina. We will work with the Tapestry Church on Saturday, February 21st from 9am - 4pm. The Tapestry Church is a NC Baptist Convention affiliated church plant in the South Fork area of Winston-Salem. Their Vision is: We exist to see God establish a Gospel-centered, multicultural expression of the church for His glory and for the city of Winston-Salem. Baptists On Mission Men, Women and Students “Sharing God’s Love Through Word and Deed”
Please consider joining us for the North Carolina Baptist Missions Region 7 Rally for Men, Women and Youth on Thursday, February19th at First Baptist Church, Hudson, NC located at 345 Main Street. Come join us for a night of mission inspiration as we experience what God is doing through NC Baptists around the world. There will be worship, testimonies, videos and information on mission opportunities. There will be a meal at 6:00 pm and then the program will be from 6:50 pm to 8:30 pm. The cost is $35 and will cover all your food and activities. This year there will be a turkey shoot, fly tying, and a shooting range for pistols, rifles and shotguns.
