WESTMARC ISSUE COMMITTEE MEETING SCHEDULE
How to make the most of your membership! WESTMARC members are encouraged to participate in one or more of our issue committees. Committee participation has many points of value for members: learn what’s happening in the West Valley from guest speakers and subject-matter experts, play an active role in supporting the region’s interests, make contacts with other members with similar interests and others. ISSUE COMMITTEE
MEETING SCHEDULE
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT The Economic Development Committee will focus on regional programs and strategies to enhance the West Valley’s economic development capabilities. The committee will also work to inform members about tools (like the Greater Maricopa Foreign Trade Zone) and West Valley economic drivers and assets.

EDUCATION AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT The Education and Workforce Development Committee will address issues affecting the quality of education in the West Valley at all levels (K-12 and higher education). The committee will have a particular focus on the quality of our workforce, as well as creating the workforce needed for the future of the West Valley.

HEALTHCARE The Healthcare Committee will focus on all aspects of the healthcare industry; one of the most promising industries for the West Valley. The top two objectives of the committee are to address topics of interest to the community (such as healthcare reform) and asset promotion and development.

INFRASTRUCTURE The Infrastructure Committee will address issues in all aspects of transportation in the West Valley as well as current water and energy resource issues with a focus on keeping WESTMARC members informed of projects and initiatives. WESTMARC ensures West Valley regional representation and advocacy in transportation matters as well as promotes the relationship between business and water resources and energy policy.

PUBLIC AFFAIRS The purpose of the Public Affairs Committee is to 1) Share information among members with public policy expertise, 2) Discuss public policy issues and their impacts, and 3) Review requests for the organization’s support in accordance with WESTMARC’s policy for taking positions on public policy issues.
