WORSHIP  AT  HOME   “I  Once  Was  Lost…”   December  27,  2015     Communion  Reflection   We  are  all  people  who  were  once  lost,  and  we  rejoice  that  we  are  now  found  in  Christ.  As  we  reflect  on   the  stories  of  how  Jesus  found  us,  we  must  never  forget  the  sacrifice  He  made  to  restore  us  to  a  right   relationship  with  our  heavenly  Father.   Throughout  the  Old  Testament  God  gave  instructions  for  festivals  and  holy  days  that  would  remind  the   people  of  His  great  acts  and  His  love  for  them.  The  Passover  feast  was  a  reminder  to  them  of  how  God   preserved  their  lives  and  rescued  them  from  Egypt.  God’s  people  sacrificed  lambs  every  year  to  remind   them  of  the  lambs  sacrificed  to  spare  their  sons.  In  Luke  22  Jesus  sat  down  at  the  Passover  feast,  His  last   supper  with  His  disciples,  and  gave  instructions  to  remember  His  body  and  His  blood  which  would  soon   be  broken  and  shed  as  THE  sacrificial  lamb.     And  he  took  bread,  gave  thanks  and  broke  it,  and  gave  it  to  them,  saying,  “This  is  my  body  given   for  you;  do  this  in  remembrance  of  me.”   In  the  same  way,  after  the  supper  he  took  the  cup,  saying,  “This  cup  is  the  new  covenant  in  my   blood,  which  is  poured  out  for  you.”     Heavenly  Father,  may  we  never  forget  that  your  Son  was  born  as  a  baby  so  that  one  day  He  would  die  as   the  perfect  sacrifice  for  our  sins.  May  we  never  forget  that  without  Jesus  it  is  impossible  for  us  to  have  a   relationship  with  You.  May  we  always  remember  that  You  love  us  so  much  that  you  allowed  your  Son  to   be  crucified  (John  3:16).  Forgive  us  when  we  forget.  Forgive  us  for  not  living  as  people  who  were  once   lost  and  have  been  found  by  the  perfect  Savior.
