Community Group Discussion Questions Pastor Chris Lawson June 21, 2015 Psalm 91 Begin by reading Psalm 91 Summary This Psalm teaches that God is invested in the safety of his people and that he uses all of the resources of Heaven to assure it. Given this, Chris dealt with 1) the seeming incongruence of Christians’ experiences and this Psalm and 2) given Christians’ experience, what the Psalm actually teaches about God’s protection. The bottom line is that because God has shielded Christians – like a mother bird shields her young – from the eternal separation earned through sin, nothing can ultimately separate Christians from God. God is always with his people in Christ. Though bad things come into the lives of Christians, God works all of them together for their good. Getting to Know Each Other 1. Of what were you afraid as a child? What is the silliest fear you still posses? Getting into the Bible 2. Read Romans 8:28. What does it mean that God works all things TOGETHER for good? 3. Read Matthew 23:37-39. Chris identified Christ’s work on the cross with that of a mother hen guarding her brood. With Psalm 91:4 in mind, consider how Christ’s work on the cross protects those who trust in him like a mother hen does her brood. Application 5. With regard to Romans 8:28, what “things” do you want to see God work together for good? Pray about these! 6. Watch this video.
