1974 EME POSATERIE WAS BORN The 1970's. A period of idea’s, design and innovation. The entrepreneurs of Lumezzane create a system of production that later became known as “Just in Time”.

La famiglia Mori è radicata a Lumezzane da tempo immemorabile, terra che ha profonde radici storiche di lavorazione del metallo. Nel 1974 Egidio Mori, con i fratelli che già lavoravano nel settore come terzisti, forgiatori e pulitori di prodotti e componentistica di posate in acciaio inossidabile, inizia la sua attività con l'impronta pragmatica tipica dell'imprenditoria bresciana fondando Posaterie EME (acronimo di Egidio Mori Elio). Da quella antica e dura produzione tradizionale sboccia, all'inizio degli anni '80, l'avventura imprenditoriale fortemente innovativa di Egidio Mori con la presentazione di articoli da lui stesso disegnati. Si inizia, a distanza di pochi anni, la produzione di posate con impugnatura in resina colorata suscitando un fortissimo interesse da parte dei clienti e del mercato , permettendo così, in breve tempo, all'azienda di posizionarsi ai vertici dei mercati mondiali.

The Mori Family has its roots in Lumezzane. A land with a long historical tradition of working with metals that dates back to the Roman times. In 1974 Egidio Mori, along with his brothers who, at the time, were already working in the cutlery industry as contractors, established the Company EME (acronym of Egio Mori Elio).

7 The early years were difficult, but in the early 1980's a major decision was made. To stop producing for the already established major companies, and to begin production of their own designs. The initial models were of classic stainless steel design, but then came the great step forward. Eme became the first company to design and produce full tang coloured handle cutlery. Interest rapidly grew from all the major markets, permitting EME to become, with in a relative short period, one of the major manufacturers of cutlery in the world.

PROCESSO PRODUTTIVO Il punto di forza di Eme è la sua organizzazione ed il controllo del ciclo produttivo. Dietro ad ogni articolo c’è sempre un lavoro di equipe per raggiungere risultati eccellenti. Un team di designer e tecnici lavorano a stretto contatto con i componenti della famiglia che personalmente verificano l’intero flusso produttivo assicurando un eccellente controllo qualitativo. L’altissima specializzazione nel settore e le sofisticate tecnologie all’avanguardia permettono di ottenere il prodotto finito completamente all’interno dell’azienda.

PRODUCTION PROCESS The strong point of EME is it’s organization and control of the production cycle. Behind the development of every article, there is always the Team. A team of designers, technicians, and engineers, that under the personal supervision of the EME Management, are able to guarantee an excellent level of quality. Quality that is maintained throughout the life cycle of the product. Due to the highly qualified expertise of our Team and the EME Management. We are able to design, develop, and produce a product completely in house.

A HISTORY OF CHALLENGES The road to success has often been difficult, but at the same time challenging. In the 1980's,when the idea of creating the first ever full tang coloured handle cutlery model was born, the technical problems that layed ahead were daunting. We had two concurrent problems to solve. The first was how to fix the two ABS parts together, and secondly, how could it be achieved in the most efficient way possible. The 1980's was the time of the first industrial robots, and after much research we were able to unite ultrasonic welding with robotics, that gave birth to our model Brio, and permitted it to be produced with low production costs. In the 1990's Barilla was preparing a promotion that included a ceramic tableware set AND a matching ceramic cutlery set. Although ceramic cutlery has always existed, the problem here was that the handle had to be cylindrical in form, and economical to produce. Previous ceramic models used large handles and could only be hand washed. As the cutlery had to be dishwasher safe, we had to over come problems of thermal expansion between the steel part and the ceramic handle. With a simple combination of a rubber sheath and a special ceramic paste. The dishwasher problem was solved. To reduce production costs, we fell back on to our growing experience of robotics.

PRODUCTION AND INVESTMENT EME has always believed in investing in technology. Perhaps this is the reason why EME is perhaps the major producer of cutlery in Europe. Today we have a daily production capacity of 200,000pcs. We are able to produce at costs that were once only thought possible in China. We do not use cheap labour to reach such goals, but our Future. We invest in our Future. Our machinery is of the last generation. Our design tools are of the last generation.

SERVICE Service is a very general word. You can have good or bad service. We at EME have always believed in offering our clients not a good service, but the very best service possible. Our average delivery time is at present 14days from the date of receipt of an order. We are working hard to reduce this time to 10days. We have a no minimum order policy, and if our clients have problems with transport, we will help them to find the best solution. We are also aware that times are difficult for “new starters”; with finances that are often stretched. To help them, we put at their disposition our designer (free of charge), who will advise them on how to maximize space, and a range of EME displays that are provided, also free of charge, with every first order.

NOT ONLY MACHINES EME is a family Company. The people that work at EME are from the same town as EME. Many of our employees are second generation. We have nearly 200 independent “Artisans” that work exclusively for EME. The production system “Just in Time” was not invented in Japan, but here in Lumezzane, Italy. It is a way of working, or if you like a tradition, that can be dated back to the foundation of Beretta, the oldest established company in the world. Communications between our Artisans and the EME Management is still based on personal relationships. In this way we can constantly control quality, and therefore get on top of any problems before they happen. Our Artisans are highly trained technicians with years of experience. They are a very important part of the EME Family.

23 EME INNOVATION nasce nel 2009 come brand innovativo per TOTEM, progetto sviluppato all'interno del concorso selettivo "Prime Cup" istituito dalla Triennale di Milano. Oggi accoglie progetti innovativi sotto l'aspetto del concept e dei materiali per rispondere alle esigenze di mercato.

EME INNOVATION was founded in 2009 as an innovative brand for TOTEM, a project developed within the selective competition "First Cup" set up by the Milan Triennale. Today it welcomes innovative projects, New Concepts, New Materials, to meet the needs of an ever evolving market.

SR è il marchio creato negli anni ‘90 e propone prodotti di prestigio e di design. Articoli indicati per punti vendita di elevato standard realizzati in acciaio 18/10 con spessori elevati che richiedono maggiori e accurate fasi di realizzazione.

SR was created in the '90s, offering a more refined product collection, of prestige and design. SR products are made of the finest 18/10 high thickness steel, that requires greater attention during the cleaning and polishing processes, so as to guarantee that high level of quality.

STRATEGIC ALLIANCES CO-BUSINESS: ALLEANZE STRATEGICHE Con il brand EME INNOVATION l’azienda si apre verso collaborazioni con aziende specializzate in ambiti produttivi diversi. Con il concept CROMOTERAPIA BENESSERE IN TAVOLA® si è avvalsa della collaborazione di Tognana Porcellane. Il progetto è un coordinato tavola venduto come singolo posto tavola monocolore, composto da 3 piatti, 1 bicchiere e 3 posate. Successivamente è stato ampliato con la linea di pentole in alluminio con interno ceramico. TECNOLOGIA SUBLIMATICA L’azienda adotta nuove tecnologie per offrire un decoro indelebile e di qualità. La termo-stampa per sublimazione è un procedimento di stampa indiretta che utilizza inchiostri sublimatici. TRATTAMENTO PVD Conferisce alle posate una resistenza ai graffi estremamente elevata. Un'innovazione, che oltre a proteggere le posate a lungo dall'usura permette di ottenere diverse sfumature di colore.

With the EME Innovation brand, EME has opened the doors to collaboration with companies specialized in specific manufacture areas. With the concept of THERAPY - WELL BEING AT THE TABLE ® we have collaborated with Porcelana Tognana. A well known Company operating in the field of porcelain. The project consists of a single place setting, consisting of a set of plates, a glass, and of course cutlery. The project is based on the principle of 29 29 subjectivity of the individual, and his/her ability to find a sense of well being through colour, through a personal chose of colour, rather than a colour dictated by fashion. TECHNOLOGIES: SUBLIMATION PRINTING Sublimation allows exception printing quality on “plastics”. Unlike other forms of printing, the decoration can be permanently embedded into the handle which allows great resistance in dish washers. PVD TREATMENT PVD renders the cutlery virtually scratch proof. An innovation that no only provides “long life”, but also allows the possibility of creating different shades of colour.

STRUMENTI DI COMUNICAZIONE FIERE INTERNAZIONALI Il progetto del nuovo Stand, realizzato per il Macef 2012 a Milano e per Ambiente 2012 a Francoforte, ideato in una fase di evoluzione aziendale, vuole trasmettere lo spirito innovativo e moderno di Eme. L’assenza di pareti esterne crea un rivoluzionario metodo espositivo e una diversa percezione degli spazi.

COMMUNICATION TOOLS INTERNATIONAL FAIRS The EME stand was presented to the public at the 2012 Macef and Ambiente Trade Fairs. A very valid means of presenting to the public a modern company that is continually evolving, and wants to convey a sense of innovation. The absence of external walls creates a perception of space, and an invitation to participate.

This is achieved through a real time database, that is constantly updated. Navigation is fast, intuitive, and above all functional. Allowing it easy to find the product sheet required.
