Conference Presentation Proposal Submission Form 5th Annual MACC Conference War and Peace: Distinctively Christian in an Increasingly Polarized World Exodus 33:14 “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Conference Date: October 5, 2018. Location: Salem Covenant Church – 2655 5th St NW, New Brighton, MN 55112 Presentation proposal deadline is March 31, 2018. The goal of the MACC Annual Conference is to provide Christian mental health professionals with biblically relevant training, connection and support, to encourage unity and collaboration, and develop a kingdom mindset to positively impact our industry for God’s glory. We are looking for individuals who are willing to offer a workshop on keeping a Christian perspective in the professional setting for therapists and/or ministry professionals. Some possible ideas/areas include: Cultural competence, Supervision, Social media, Finding your voice, Family values and Generational differences. The workshop will need to be an hour and a half in length and visual aids and interactive discussion within the workshop are encouraged.

After a presentation is accepted, we will need a professional photograph and a short bio. All presenters will need to submit their PowerPoint and other handouts at least 3 weeks before the conference – no later than September 15, 2018. Presenters must also consent to being videoed.

Presenters will receive free conference registration and CE credit. Please contact Candi Schmechel, conference chair at [email protected] if you have questions about the proposal. All questions are required: 1. PRESENTATION TITLE - Please indicate relevance to being distinctively Christian in an increasingly polarized world in the title. 2. SUMMARY STATEMENT - This will be published on the MACC website and should provide information as to content. This statement MUST NOT exceed 150 words. 3. DESCRIPTIVE STATEMENT - This longer and more complete statement fully describes the presentation and outlines the theoretical and research basis for the program, addressing

how it meets or advances commonly accepted practices within the profession. This statement MUST NOT exceed 500 words.

SOURCES - A list of at least 3 books or research studies in psychology or related fields that inform or support the content of the presentation.

5. LEARNING OBJECTIVES Avoid verbs such as understand, learn, and appreciate. Focus on actions that will occur for the participant. Examples of words to start your objectives with: apply, demonstrate, analyze, recognize, and explain. e.g. “Participants will apply contemporary ethics codes and standards in their own practices.” Three objectives are required. 1. 2. 3. 6. The content of this presentation is at the following level: a. Introductory (information comparable to that covered in a therapy academic graduate class. b. Intermediate (assumes participants have equivalent of a graduate degree in behavioral health, but no specialized knowledge in the topic you are presenting). c. Advanced (assumes participants have equivalent of graduate degree in therapy AND additional knowledge in this presentation's area)
