ring your scissors and join Smocks for Life Sept. 2 at 6:30 p.m. in Asbury Hall to cut out and assemble sewing kits for smocks to be worn by breast cancer patients during treatment. If you can sew, please consider taking home a kit or two and sew at your leisure. Each kit takes about two hours to sew. All instructions are in the kit. Are you a builder or a wrecker? Dear Friends in Christ, I came across a poem that has a lot to say about the way we live our lives. The author is unknown. A Builder or a Wrecker As I watched them tear a building down, A gang of men in a busy town. With a ho-heave-ho, and a lusty yell They swung a beam and the side wall fell. I asked the foreman, “Are these men skilled, And the men you’d hire if you wanted to

build?” He gave a laugh and said, “No, indeed, Just common labor is all I need.” “I can easily wreck in a day or two,

Dr. Pat Sparks, Senior Pastor

What builders have taken years to do.” And I thought to myself, as I went my way, Which of these roles have I tried to play? Am I a builder who works with care, Measuring life by rule and square? Am I shaping my work to a well-made plan, Patiently doing the best I can?

Handbell player needed for choir

Or am I a wrecker who walks to town,

he Carillon Handbell Choir is in need of another player. We rehearse on Sunday evenings from 5-6:30. No experience is necessary. Reading music and understanding rhythmic notation is very helpful. If you are interested in joining us or just want more information, please call Linda Ellison at (281) 394-2973.

That which will build for eternity!”

Content with the labor of tearing down? “O Lord, let my life and my labors be

1 Corinthians 10:31 states “… whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.” A good question to consider as we examine our lives is “How am I doing with living my life—am I a builder or a wrecker?” My experience at St. Peter’s tells me that we have a church full of builders who are connecting the world with God’s love. Thanks be to God! Grace and Peace,

Pat
