reports at the time that the study determined that the intersection warranted a light and was scheduled to receive one in the near future. We can confirm that Travis County is recommending that the light be funded but that funding has not yet been approved. The project is scheduled to come up for review by Travis County in August and would not be installed until early 2015 if approved. Look for additional details and information in future months as we learn them. Reminder: The FC3 athletic field work is well underway as the grass seed has been spread and the concrete drainage channels are in place. We remind everyone to please stay off of the field until it is officially opened to allow for the seed to take and establish for long-term growth.

REMINDERS FROM THE ASSOCIATION MANAGER POOL/AMENITY CENTER ACCESS: The pool is now open for the season. If you are new to the community and have not received a pool access fob (tag) please contact Plateau at [email protected]. The charge for replacement fobs (tags) is $25.00. The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) has recently published several recommendations related to exercise: 1. Any physical activity is better than no physical activity • Includes people with disabilities • Far outweighs the possibility of risk of injury or illness 2. MONTHLY RESTAURANT REVIEWS BY LARRY BROOME

This month we are going to take a trip to Thailand, but within 5 minutes of FCIII. Okay a few doors away from our HEB on Gattis School isn’t exactly Thailand, but it is 5 minutes away. Thai Spoon is the restaurant and Thai is certainly their forte. Open for lunch and dinner every day (Sunday only dinner), you will find yourself in a welcoming well decorated space. Thai Spoon does a very good job with their soups, for those uninitiated in Thai cuisine might I suggest Tom Ka, a delicious coconut based soup with chicken and vegetables. It was a welcome companion on a cold winter night this year. As far as appetizers, I also enjoyed the satay, mostly for the peanut dipping sauce. I would not suggest the spring rolls, as they seemed a little chewier than they should be. Stick to the curries for your entrée as they are all delicious, wellseasoned and plentiful. It is advisable if you are new to Thai to order a few different curries to try. They do a wonderful job with the Panang and red curries, whether chicken, shrimp or even just veggies for you vegetarians. I have had a duck dish there which

I found a little fattier than I like. For those craving noodles the Pad Thai is authentic and flavorful, also a good starter dish for those who haven’t had Thai before. A word of caution, when you order your entrée they will ask you whether you would like it mild, medium, hot or Thai hot. Unless you are a glutton for punishment do not order it Thai hot, as every Thai restaurant I have ever gone to seems to take that as a challenge to make steam come out of your ears and tears to roll down your face. Even the hot is hotter than most American palates due to the different peppers that are the basis of Thai cuisine. This is a great “drop in” restaurant, when you can’t figure out where to go to eat, or are just tired of where you have been going. There is usually no wait and they seem extremely family friendly. They do serve wine and beer, but Thai iced tea is my favorite (nothing like American iced tea). To try something new and close Thai Spoon can help with one of those spur of the moment meals.

ARound the Rock will be an entertaining look at restaurants close to our community, providing information for you to answer the all-important question “where do we eat tonight?” Of course the important things in life; food, wine and music, are subject to our own individual taste and opinion, and this is but one man’s opinion. The locations will all be within a 10 minute drive from FCIII. I look forward to your input as I decide my next stop.

Forest Creek III - May 2014

Congratulation juniors, you made it -- now you are seniors! Some of you might dream of having a career and becoming millionaires by the time you reach 25. And some just need to get their high school diploma and go straight to work, and that’s okay too. If you plan to attend college, please make sure that you know which career you want, which college to attend, and how you will pay for it. Make sure that you mark 2 calendars because you need to keep track of registration, admission, fees, and financial aid. During summer vacation make sure you register for SAT and/or ACT. And now, it’s time for your senior portrait; ladies make sure that you wear a spaghetti strap shirt underneath. During the second semester, keep up your grades! Poor grades might lower your GPA and you might lose your scholarship. Apply to every scholarship that is available, and make sure that you make copies of every single paper that you sign. Don’t forget to include your CATEMA grades, remember every little thing helps. Before taking a college tour, don’t forget to fill out the RRISD Pre-Approved College Visit Form. The most important thing to remember is do not post anything embarrassing online; because schools search social networks and that can prevent you from attending the school of your dreams. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, your teachers and counselors are there for you, trust me, they want you to succeed, or maybe just want you to leave. ***Note to parents: be the quiet cheerleader, and don’t give your opinion. Remember, let them go, but do not change the lock, they always come back! Audrey Doubleday Attending ACC for Computer Technological & Video Game Development in the Fall of 2014 Class of 2014

CREAMY WHITE BEAN, AVOCADO AND BASIL LINGUINI

It is starting to heat up here in Round Rock. If you love creamy Alfredo pasta, but are looking for something a little lighter to chow down on in the Texas heat, this dish might just be exactly what you are looking for! Cannellini beans blend with avocado in this oil-free sauce to create an indulgent creamy base, while the basil and lime give this recipe a fresh summery twist. What you’ll need: I box/can of cannellini beans (approx. 13-15 oz) 1 ripe avocado 1 cup fresh basil ¼ cup red onion (roughly chopped) 1 garlic clove Juice from 1-2 limes ½ tsp salt Cracked black pepper to taste ½ cup pasta water 1 box of linguini (16 oz) *if serving to a younger child, you can roast the carrots ahead of time to make sure they are nice and soft. Directions: First, fill your pasta pot with water and bring to a boil. While you are waiting for the water to boil, peel your avocado and chop your onion, then add all of the above ingredients (minus the pasta water and the linguini) to your food processor. Once the water has boiled, add your pasta to the pot and cook according to the directions on the box. About 2-3 minutes before your linguini is ready to drain, sneak out about ½ cup of the pasta water and add to your food processor. The starchy water from the pasta pot will help to bring the sauce together and give it a silkier texture. Now the sauce is ready to blend in your food processor. Keep blending until it is smooth and creamy. Go ahead and take a taste test! It’s pretty amazing! Place the sauce into a large serving bowl, drain your linguini, add it to the sauce and stir it up until the sauce is completely blended into the noodles. Enjoy! Copyright © 2014 Peel, Inc.
