Work’s Believers “For I am the LORD your God. You must consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am holy. So do not defile yourselves with any of these small animals that scurry along the ground.” (Leviticus 11:44, NLT) I’m no good believers. “I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can’t.” (Romans 7:18, NLT) Spirit Filled Believers. “The wind blows wherever it wants. Just as you can hear the wind but can’t tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can’t explain how people are born of the Spirit.” (John 3:8, NLT) Everywhere I go I find that God’s people lack something. They are hungry for something. Their Christian experience is not all that they expected and they often have recurring defeat in their lives. Christians today are hungry for spiritual fulfillment. The most desperate need of the nation today is that men and women who profess Jesus be filled with the Holy Spirit. Billy Graham, The Holy Spirit 1. I WANT TO BE CONSUMED WITH A DESIRE FOR GOD. “As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God.” (Psalm 42:1, NLT) “Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again— my Savior and” (Psalm 42:5, NLT)

“But each day the LORD pours his unfailing love upon me, and through each night I sing his songs, praying to God who gives me life.” (Psalm 42:8, NLT) 2. I WANT TO LIVE IN THE LIGHT OF ALL THAT I’VE RECEIVED. My Advocate. “If you love me, obey my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.” (John 14:15–17, NLT) “If we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.” (1 John 1:7, NLT) “Anyone who loves a fellow believer is living in the light and does not cause others to stumble.” (1 John 2:10, NLT) “For it is impossible to bring back to repentance those who were once enlightened—those who have experienced the good things of heaven and shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the power of the age to come—” (Hebrews 6:4–5, NLT) 3. I WANT THE MOUNTAIN TOP AND THE MUNDANE EXPERICE OF GOD. “Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory,” (1 Peter 1:8, ESV) “And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.” (Romans 5:5, NLT)

GROWTHWORK 1. Yield completely to God. “Apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5, NLT) “May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” (2 Corinthians 13:14, NLT) 2. Engage with the Bible and embrace a life of prayer. “But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!” (John 15:7, NLT) 3. Fast breakfast and lunch once a week. “But someday the groom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.” (Luke 5:35, NLT) 4. Worship with your church family weekly. “During this time, when about 120 believers were together in one place, ....On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place.” (Acts 1:15; 2:1, NLT)
