Academy Field Lesson Payment Due 1/22

IA #3 for 4th & 5th Grade Scholars Our third benchmark assessment is quickly approaching for our 4th and 5th grade scholars. The state assesses 4th grade writing, and 5th grade math and reading earlier than the rest of the subjects. Due to this earlier testing date, we will have our third benchmark on the following days:  Tues., 1/30 – 4th Grade Writing  Tues., 2/6 – 5th Grade Math  Wed., 2/7 – 5th Grade Reading You can help your scholar to be successful on this day by making sure they get plenty of rest and a good breakfast!

All Academy scholars participate in two field lessons during the school year. To participate in both field lessons, scholars must turn in their field lesson payment (PK-4th Grade - $20, 5th Grade - $30). The final day to submit this payment is at Report Card Night on Monday, January 22. If you have special circumstances, please reach out to Jessica Garcia at [email protected].

2nd Grade SAMA Field Lesson 1/19 On Friday, January 19, second grade scholars will visit the San Antonio Museum of Art (SAMA). The following is the information that second grade families need to know about the upcoming field lesson: Date/Time Friday, January 19, during the school day Cost The cost of both field lessons is $20 and can be paid at Report Card Night – please do not send your scholar with money Dress Code Friday attire (spirit shirt, jeans) or normal uniform Transportation Bus transportation Food We provide sack lunches for scholars. You can send your scholar with cold lunch, but make sure it is in a paper bag and is completely disposable for easy clean up. Permission Permission slips will be sent home on Tuesday. Please Slip make sure to sign and return this document to your scholar’s homeroom teacher.

No School – 2/9

IDEA 5K

On Friday, February 9 there will be no school due to staff professional development. Please make plans for your scholars on this day.

Registration for the IDEA San Antonio 5K Run/Walk and Healthy Living Expo is now open! Follow the link: https://www.ideapublicschools.org/5k. The race will take place on Saturday, January 20 at Lady Bird Johnson Park (10700 Nacogdoches Road). The events will start at the following times:  1K Walk – 8:30AM  5K Walk/Run – 9AM Scholars, families, and staff members are all welcome to participate.

Spirit Shirts – Now Available for Sale Spirit shirts are now available for sale! You can purchase these shirts during Report Card Night or through the front office. The cost of the shirts are as follows: 1 spirit shirt for $12 2 spirit shirts for $20

Mandatory Report Card Night Date Changed

Report Card Night was originally scheduled for Thursday, January 25. We have changed the date of this event to Monday, January 22. This is a mandatory event for all families. Report Card Night will begin promptly at 3:00PM and will end at 6:00PM. All families will be expected to park, collect their scholar’s report card, and pick up their scholar from his/her homeroom. This process will take about 40 minutes. Please make plans to attend.

International Food Festival Date Change The International Food Festival was originally scheduled to take place this upcoming Wednesday; however, we’ve moved it! The International Food Festival will now take place on Monday, February 19 from 6-7PM. During this event, staff members will prepare dishes from different countries for you and your scholar to try. This event is free to all those that attend. We look forward to seeing you rock your IDEA pride! Hoot! Hoot!

Academy Book Fair – Coming Soon! During the week of Monday, February 26 we will be hosting our second book fair of the year! All scholars will get to attend the book fair during the school day during AR and recess. Families can visit the book fair after school. We look forward to seeing you there!
