Sports Tryouts In the upcoming weeks, we will have tryouts for Cross Country and Basketball – our two winter sports. Be on the lookout for more information in next week’s Family Weekly!

Graduation Plans Ensure you’ve met with Ms. Wratten to sign your scholar’s graduation plan. If it’s not signed by Wednesday morning, your scholar will attend Lifework Responsibility Meeting on Wednesday afterschool. Field Lesson Fundraiser #1 We have already begun our first Field Lesson fundraiser – raffle tickets. If you scholar would like to pick up more tickets, Ms. Mancinas will be passing out more during lunch. All money is due on Wednesday, October 19th. Winners will be announced during our Fall Festival. IVY League Field Lesson Fundraiser On Friday, KSAT was on our campus to interview our 9th grade scholars who will participate in our school’s first ever IVY League Field Lesson. Get Out the Vote 5K Run! On Saturday, October 8, IDEA South Flores will host our first 5K run! This is a community event and is open to anyone interested in helping to promote health and the right to exercise your vote. The race will begin at 8AM. There will be voter registration organizations on site to get participants registered to vote. We look forward to seeing you there! College Prep Scholars who participate in this event will receive community service hours AND will receive extra credit a class of their choice for every adult they bring to register. If you can volunteer to assist with this event, contact Coach Menchaca at [email protected].

Breast Cancer Awareness This Friday (10/7), we will be supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Day by wearing pink. Scholars can support this cause by wearing a pink t-shirt with jeans, a black belt, and black shoes.

Report Card Night On Tuesday, November 1, we are hosting Report Card Night. This is a mandartory event for all families. Report Card Night will begin promptly at 3:00PM and will end at 6:00PM. All families will be expected to park, collect their scholar’s report card, and pick up their scholar from their homeroom. This process will take about 40 minutes. Please make plans to attend.

No School 10/10 and 10/21 On Monday, October 10 and Friday, October 21, there will be no school due to Columbus Day and professional development. Please be sure to make arrangements for your scholar on these days.

Keepers of the Nest Parent Organization This year, we will be hosting our Keepers of the Nest meetings on Mondays. The next meeting will take place on Monday, October 17 at 5:30pm. Future meetings will be noted in the “Upcoming Event” section of the Family Weekly. We look forward to seeing you there!

Fall Festival Donations On Friday, October 28, we will host our annual Fall Festival! This event will begin at 5:30PM and will end at 7:30PM. To help make this event a success, we need your help! Please send the following donations with your scholar to their homeroom teacher. All the funds raised during the Fall Festival will go towards field lessons. Thank you for supporting our scholars! Book Character Parade & Candy Donation On Monday, 10/31, scholars may attend school dressed as their favorite book character (please no overly scary costumes). College Prep scholars will have Team and Family time with their homeroom. They will coordinate with their homeroom leader what items to bring.
